So, I don't really pay attention to studios and such when I watch shows, even though I know that's probably a big part of how some people make decisions, but there is one studio I know I do like. Bones has made some stuff I thoroughly enjoy so now I pretty much always click on anything I see with their name attached.
Case and point, over the weekend I watched a show called Noragomi. It was a cute little show, only 12 episodes with a good pace, nice story and strong character. I don't want to be critical, but I will say it seemed familiar, which is never a bad thing especially if the show is good. I liked the mythology in the show as far as how gods work and how bad/evil thoughts manifest themselves around depressed humans as phantoms that can cause problems with negative influences. It was funny, the action was good, and the characters were believable.

I was tempted to get Bebop. I've actually never watched it, which seems like a shame to me. Next time I have some extra money I'll probably pick it up.

I've still got Bebop on VSH/DVD and The movie on bluray. I think I'm good. I do mega want GITS Arise Vol4. Loved the first 3 volumes despite my bitching about Motoko's new look...
Started Psycho Pass. 2 episodes in was kinda meh, 3rd onward really have picked up.

Gorgeous picture quality and excellent highly detailed 5.1 HD audio track (though the UK Blu-Ray release is the one with better audio track presentation.) Plus the two excellent special presentations with the cast they did exclusively for this BD release... 1.5 hours for one and over an hour for the other... well worth the $36 for the basic Funimation version.Psycho Pass was okay...but not one of my favorites. Didn't like the Girl's School arc (those particularly brutal episodes are kind of hard to take) but from their onward it's quite good.

I'm a die-hard Evangelion fan and have a true love/hate relationship with the rebuild movies. For example, change Asuka's name for no apparent reason and having different voice actors for only one or two characters with all other being the original cast. Also that the fact that Funimation is a year late releasing the 3.33 movie... Some successful one's that come to mind are Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood and Hellsing Ultimate when I think of titles that got a reboot and still turned out pretty good. And while Arise isn't really a reboot. If you enjoyed GitS in the past, I'm sure you'd really like this as well. |

And though not new, if you haven't seen it yet then try out Cowboy Bebop... it's one of the few anime series masterpieces with an English dub that is the reference all English dubs are judged by.
