Meguiar's Hot Rims Wheel Cleaner - Safe?

I know that Meguiar's makes a few levels of cleaners and that this is the middle level. I've read negative reviews about using this on some wheels. Is it safe for the OEM FR-S wheels?

Used it on my GT-R before and I cannot believe that OEM FR-S wheels could be damaged. Meguiars usually knows their stuff.

Safe for all wheels. If you like it save the spray bottle and get this stuff....
http://www.meguiars.com/en/professio...ner,-1-gallon/

Even diluted to 35-40% strength it works just as good or better than the all wheel cleaner.

I use the purple 'Super Clean' and that stuff will literally make your hands have dryness +10 and you can feel it peel the skin when dry and I use it on the wheels with no problem, (along with rubber gloves) so I doubt a wheel cleaner made to clean wheels will hurt them. Always read the label though, just to be sure.

Yep, I remember some wheel cleaners being highly acidic and damaging if left on for more than 15 seconds. Thankfully I haven't seen them on the market in years.

Super Clean eats paint and aluminum, it's definitely not what you want to use on your wheels. It also dries out rubber, so another strike against it.

General purpose degreasers all have issues like this (Super Clean, Simple Green, etc). They're really not designed for automotive use like a true engine degreaser is. True engine degreasers won't damage any base materials like paint, aluminum, rubber, plastic, etc

FYI: Super Clean is so good at removing paint, it's often used by model builders to safely remove paint from clear plastics. Like for instance you screwed up painting the frame of an aircraft canopy.
