I've always wanted to visit Norway. It's absolutely beautiful. My Norwegian friends at university were some of the nicest kindest people I've ever known. Your culture... etc. etc.

Well... Parts of it is, some of the time. The west coast and the far north in summer is your best bet if you like scenery and nature and stuff. Oslo in winter is just very, very depressing.

Keep in mind that THOSE were the adventurous, outgoing, smart Norwegians. They do not necessarily reflect the populace as a whole.
And the culture? It's either archaic like Ibsen, Grieg and a few (easily avoided) people in funny costumes playing traditional music on quaint, disharmonic string instruments.

In short, the Norwegian culture is in the museums.
On the streets there are McDonalds and in the theatres there are Hollywood movies.

My ancestral farmstead is downhill from this viewpoint. This is Stryn and Nordfjord.

And for good measure, here's the midnight sun at the North Cape.

I've heard of this, the seasonal extremes.

Of course, but it's in the everyday little connections where the magic is found. I am fairly well travelled and have realistic expectations. Everywhere in the world is a little bit different. We miss things if we spend our time looking for big drama.

Sadly, it's everywhere - like a fungus. We just have to look through it. I'm certain your culture is very much alive and I look forward to someday experiencing it firsthand.

That's how 'Murica rolls. Enjoy! Or not. I don't. Some things should be in the museum, but so much has been lost.

In that case, let me know if you start planning a trip.
I might even be able to show you something genuine, if the timing is right.

Well you go away for a few hours and the Norwegian Tourism Bureau takes over!
Looks like we need to set up a meet!

Time to get this thread back on track I think.

And OP has an answer! On page 11! Woohoo!

It's hard to see from that tiny blurry photo.
So. Are you on the metric system and is your display showing an average fuel consumption of 7.4 liters per 100km, or are my eyes deceiving me?
