You have any idea how many time a bunch of us have tried to destroy this thread?
We thoroughly derail it and a couple of days later some joker pops on and says "but I.........." and off we go again!
Gonna start just telling people that I filled my tank with diesel and that worked (Oh god nobody do that. Really just don't!!!!) just to shut them up.
Guess all we would get then would be a new thread that says "my car smells funny, what is it?"
Ok so there should be a "I have the noise now as well" in

While the sound doesn't really bother me from an ownership/driving standpoint, it does bother the hell out of me from an engineering standpoint. I mean, come on. How hard can it possibly be for them to figure out what's causing that sound and fix it? Lol.

There's no financial benefit for them to engineer a quieter HPFP, so it doesn't matter how hard it is to fix

Actually, I'm not sure that's entirely true. They have every incentive to at least identify the problem. This pump, or any future iterations, could be used in other vehicles in the future, and it would be beneficial for them to have the problem identified to avoid the same issue going forward. Considering how many pumps they have replaced because of this sound that were otherwise functioning perfectly normally, it might even be worth the cost of a minor retooling to resolve the issue once and for all. Otherwise they are paying for a lot of unnecessary parts and labor.

I had the fuel pump changed the first time in summer 2014. The noise was gone, but it came back recently. So today I went back to the dealership, but they couldn't do anything about it. They said it's already been replaced once and they still don't have the most updated version available. I guess I have to deal with it until they have something.

So what do you guys do? Ignore and deal with it? To me, it's kinda embarrassing that there's this weird loud chirping noise coming from the engine. It's like, "Is your car ok?" SIGH There's nothing else we can do and just wait...

The repetition in 209 pages of this thread is starting to get funny, in a painful kind of way.

More than anything, my engineering brain wants to know WHY it makes the sound. What is it exactly? The fact that it starts quiet leads me to believe that a part is wearing slightly over time. But what would it be?
I need to tear one of these apart and find out.

I've been pointing people to VitViper's theory ever since he quoted it on the TSB cricket mega thread
