Bilsteins in the back with BRZ springs
I just put the Bilstein HD's in the back with the BRZ springs because they were already to go, tophats and everything. No good, too soft. Front takes the bumps while the back squats. It kind of swings funny on the hard corners too. Next weekend I'll remount all four Bilsteins on FR-S springs. I'm pretty sure that's what they're valved for anyway. They sure suck with BRZ springs, I know that. So currently I have FR-S springs and struts in front, and Bilsteins with BRZ springs in back. It rode good with HKS Hypermax GT IV struts in back, and those are 38 N/mm, while FR-S springs are 37 N/mm so they should ride good.

Update on the Bilstein HD rears with BRZ rear springs. It's obvious Bilstein made these for the FR-S springs since the valving is a bit off. It's also a scarier ride, since the rear toe/camber links are much more active. Now I turn into a corner, wait for the weight transfer, then correct to make it through the corner. I had some 20 MPH twisty's to drive through and I did not enjoy it.

What does that mean? Toe rods are a static length.

That guy was the bumpstop expert. This guy sure knows his spring rates. Car companies don't know what they're missing out on until they hire these two. Last edited by Fizz; 12-15-2014 at 09:09 PM. |
