Thumbs down DSG Performance - BEWARE!

While looking around at holiday sales I recently purchased a Vortech Supercharger kit and PW:JDM Strut Tower Brace during DSG Performance's Holiday sale as seen in this thread DSG Holiday Sale. As per the thread's instructions I added the products to my cart for special pricing and checked out as normal.

A couple days later I receive an email from Sean@DSG stating that they need $587 more from me before they would be willing to ship out my parts. After further email exchanges DSG was shockingly unwilling to honor their own holiday sale pricing. Right now they currently have well over $3k of mine and are unwilling to ship out my parts.

BEWARE!! I know I won't be ordering from a company that employes Bait-And-Switch tactics like this again.

Have you had a telephone conversation with the vendor? What reason they gave you that the sale pricing was not going to be honored?

They say that I "purchased the product at an incorrect price". Sure the price was a little bit lower than MSRP, but that's the point of a sale after all.

Customer service is our top priority, which is why we reached out to Akari as soon as we saw the issue with his order. Unfortunately I am unsure if there is simply confusion in regards to this order, but I have made my best attempt to explain to Akari the situation and will happily do so here as well and I am sure you will all find it very reasonable. I did try to reach out by phone through our email conversation because sometimes that is a bit easier, but was unable to get through to him.

Our Black Friday sale was specific to certain brands including Password JDM, SSP, Voltex & Weds Wheels. What happened here, is for some reason when Akari added his PW JDM Strut Bar to the cart, the promotion applied itself faultily to the Vortech Supercharger as well (Which was not on sale). I attempted to explained that the promotion that is applied to the PW JDM Strut Bar (20% OFF) somehow auto applied itself to the Vortech Supercharger as well which in turn, lowered the already discounted price by $587. It is an issue with how the promotion rule was triggered on our website, and was not an intentional discount. Due to the error, the Supercharger was an astoundingly low 3327.99 which unfortunately is well below our own costs!

Should the error have been within a reasonable margin, it would not be a big deal and we would honor it for our customer gladly. One sale of lower profit is worth a smile any day, however with the excessive discount applied we ourselves would be out a considerable value which I am sure most will agree is not unreasonable to not be able to honor.

I then explained that Akari was in no way obligated to his purchase, and should he wish we would regretfully refund the order for him though of course rectifying it is obviously preferable to everyone involved.

In the event we have an issue where the site makes an error or we perhaps have something mispriced, which can happen - we will happily honor it in the event it is possible. Unfortunately, with the excessive discount applied to this product it is well below our own costs and we cannot. It is impossible to order the Vortech Generator at the price Akari received, as it is below every dealer availables own wholesale purchase price! As I mentioned to Akari, if anyone does see a listing for the kit being sold for 3327.99 or less, please let me know because that is where I will be buying it in the future too!

Thank you for the update. Please refund my order in full as previously asked for; I do not want to do business with a company unwilling to honor their own advertised pricing.

Seems to me making a profit on every single item is your top priority, not customer service. Again, this isn't the type of company I want to be giving thousands of dollars to and relying on service from.

Refund his money...some people just don't understand that mistakes happen and vendors have costs too, and need to keep a business running

And some businesses don't understand that repeat customers make up on average 90% of sales and how to provide good customer service, the kind that doesn't inconvenience the customer for their mistake. Good customer service drives additional sales that more than make up for any profit lost from fixing one mistake the right way. The way they have handled this and treated me in email shows very, very poor business practice.

Nothing more needs to be said here. My money was refunded after much hassle and this thread was created to warn others about this company.

This also happened to the Mishimoto Radiator Cooling Kit which was valued at around $99-$150 by Amazon. People paid and order was accepted. After a week or less, Amazon pulled the product and repriced it to $550++ I think, e-mailed customers that their pricing was a mistake, refunded the buyers, and just gave additional $10 store credit for the mistake. Many people were bummed. I wanted to pull the trigger but knew that if I ordered it I would just get my hopes up for something that would never arrive.

Whenever I see deals that are too good to be true, I always message the vendor just to be sure that 1) It's legit and 2) Everything is clear from warranty, service, shipping, taxes, etc.

In this instance, this is 100% the fault of @Jason@DSG due to system error. But similar to Amazon, it was a mistake that would put them at a great loss. With any product that doesn't arrive or is faulty, the remedy has always been to refund or exchange, which they are trying to do. It is @Akari 's right to get a refund, never buy from them again, and post his dissatisfaction in this forum. It's also Jason@DSG's right to defend himself and reputation in this forum.

If it were me, I would first ask myself why I would buy the Vortech Supercharger. I'd weigh it by aswering 2 questions 1) Am I only buying this because it's such a good deal, put it on my car to see if I like it, then if I don't I'd just resell it with profit or with minimal loss of $$$, or 2) Am I really supercharging my car no matter what and I just want to find the best deal out there? If you answer 1, then @Akari should just get a refund and never be a repeat customer if he doesn't trust them. On the other hand, if you answer 2, then just try to haggle. I'm sure there's a compromise somewhere here wherein both sides win. DSG can can give it at a price that their company can live with and Akari can get his Vortech Supercharger cheaper than others (whether by $10-$200 depends on what you guys agree upon).

1. Email is rarely admissible court. Snail mail, yes. Your advice is full of fail.

2. Direct phone conversation is much better for actually resolving problems.

3. Admit it, you follow me around this forum because you love me. Its ok, I love you too Stan.

No, its not the best way to put something on the record because email isn't considered the record unless explicitly stated. Email headers are easy to forge for any purposes.

I imagine that if most of the time I write fail nonsense I'd have a few hundred fewer thank you for my posts. Tough to follow that logic though right?

Nice edit thanking the OP, lol.

And yet you remain. I invite you to solve your problem with this board, its vendors and members and not come back. Find your people that agree with you and setup camp there ad infinitum.

DSG performance isn't a multi-billion dollar corporation (Amazon/Walmart). OP reminds me of the fat white woman in the checkout screaming for the manager to give her the (wrongfully) advertised price or she'll get him fired... or something.

Get a grip.
