Not as an insult, but what kind of demographic were people expecting for a car in this particular segment? A sporty coupe with attractive lines. Most kids will go for appeal and image before they even realize what the car is. Back in MY high school days kids were fawning over the (then) new 2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse. Things such as performance, balance, etc. weren't even subject matters. Everyone was out for an Eclipse because of a Dirty Vegas commercial and a chick in the passenger seat. That's lame.

EDIT: bibbity bobbity boop.

With a sports car, you can't really blame anyone for wanting to push it to its limits we all gotta learn sometimes

if your worried about demographic and insurance, maybe you should look into a buick

if you think about it we really don't need to worry at least for a few years. the main group of people who rice out civics and scions buy them used not new, at least here in Florida. I would assume this would apply in most places as well. I hate to use this comparison but even the newer mustangs start at 22k and you don't see them everywhere. Simply put, the 25k price range will be enough of a deterrent at launch to keep the ricers away [hopefully]

I don't know if the BRZ will have a more mature demographic. Why? Guys I see driving Subies drive like maniacs "most" of the time. Mature? Really? Those ultra loud cans, wastegate dumping and blow off valve blasting through the air while passing cars, you call that mature? Most car deemed a sports car will carry with it a ricey aura and insurance rates are calculated based on claims of a specific car. Some that say its based on claims is correct. I am a license Insurance Agent and went through the whole she-bang so got much deeper understanding of how car insurance works. Anyhow aside from that, we will see how things pan out in the next few years especially if other makes start coming out with their own FRS/BRZ competitive examples...not everyone will flock to the FRS/BRZ camp...demographic? Balance out in some ways...just my thoughts fellas

Also true is why Hondas are so common and riced out is because its so cheap and easy to have/modify. Most of the ghetto gangsters, ricers, drive Hondas because these ghetto owners are "in" the lower class. It will be another 10 to 15 years before it becomes a mass owned car like the Hondas and you will see those vatos up there driving em, slapping retarded XXR wheels while the car is floating in the air. Pretty much what I see all around town. Blasting the music rolling like they are hard and shit. Really? Hard? Bunch of putos. Sorry ranting. Just don't like gangsters period. Nothing hard. Nothing. No substance. Anyhow looking forward to owning one of these cars...hopefully soon.

The only demographic I don't want to be included in is anyone who likes this damn commercial:

I think the techy type who likes weekend autocrossing and your occasional track day will be the ideal demographic for this car.

That's my impression as well.

You are missing the point here. The people who like this commercial will grow up to buy a GC. You get them early and many of them will be customers for life. This lesson is not lost on Toyota(Scion). You need to have a product for your customers at every life stage and/or playthings for those who can afford to have 2nd or 3rd product.

I bet Kia is not making any money on the Soul. Did you guys notice it has push button start???

Ppl that still own STI, EVO, Si, & other ridiculously expensive insurance owners know what they're paying... but that car is worth every penny of that expensive insurance, so they keep em. That's my point, if FRS/BRZ isn't worth every penny of your insurance or worry about other morons gonna make it higher rate insurance... move on to another car.

It sound harsh, but worrying about these kind of things are endless. I heard it enough when GC came out
It's not "worrying," but it's a legitimate thing to think about, just as much as considering how much it's going to cost to maintain a vehicle. Obviously you don't want to go into a $25,000 commitment without thinking it all the way through and considering everything else involved.

Yeah, I get that all the time... having originally created this user name (obviously not on this forum) 10+ years ago when in college while continuing to use it (since I don't want to remember numerous logins and passwords for forums) has confused a lot of people about how seriously they take me, haha.
