2) Depends on your state and condition of exhaust system. Technically, as soon as you touch either of the OEM cats, it's no longer in compliance. Some states will perform a visual test and you'll fail that immediately. Others will perform a sniffer test and depending on how well your secondary cat works, you may or may not pass. Still other states perform only an OBD2 readiness test, and in those states, you'll pass, assuming the other sensors are all reporting OK and ready. You can use an app like Torque or some other OBD2 scan tool to check the readiness status of all of your sensors. Some states allow you to fail 2 of them and still consider your car passable. |

You are able to get OFH+OFT for 1k. Which is the price for these headers alone, so there are some definite tradeoffs. If you get this header + OFT (most people like tunes) you're basically paying 500 for a lifetime warranty, at least that's one way to look at it in comparison to the OFT+OFH combo lol.

Yeah the O2 readiness is all I need here in NY. Plus I have a good mechanic that I am close with that knows I modify my cars. They pass my SRT-4 which has a straight pipe on it but no CEL's due to my Mopar Stage 1 ECU which just doesn't pick up any CAT related codes I guess. |

I got this header because it has a cat which makes it cleaner and quieter and that can only partially be compensated with a catted front pipe. And not at all if you already have a catted front pipe, so for me an OFH wasn't even an option. And, can't compare power figures, but I remain in the idea that this header is the easiest way to remove any torque dip, no special tuning needed. |

OFT+OFH vs. FT86 SF Catted UEL They are pretty much at the same price point.

I wouldn't put a Tune + uncatted header against a catted header by itself as a fair comparison, unless you're just comparing sound.

Each will have its own pros and cons, I'll do me some research when I'm home. I'm a cali resident so sound is a bit of a concern, as far as loudness.

As far as I can slice or dice it, the FT86SF Catted UEL serves a different population than the uncatted counterparts out there, and when we're specifically talking about OFH, I don't think you can go wrong with FT86SF vs. OFH, so long as you know what you're looking for. Price/value, I'd have to give it to OFH, of course, but if you need/want a cat, then I'd definitely give it to FT86SF. |
