I narrowly avoided a flying foot long metal rod that got kicked up by a car in front of me last year. Had manoeuvering room and used the FR-S' full potential to avoid it by inches. I can well imagine that it would have caused similar or worse damage had it actually hit my car.

I had loads of room to maneuver as I was several car lengths back but contrary to what you would expect it to do, under the laws of physics, when it hit the road it didn't continue to travel forward (conservation of motion) but shot backwards and up (equal and opposite reaction?) like a bullet. Since the parts were all airborne as I approached I also put the car's full potential to the test and managed to miss the housing and other main parts but the lens went straight up and was on it's descent just as my bumper got there. If I had zigged instead of zagged (hindsight is a wonderful thing) I might have missed it but at 120kph and pieces flying so high I couldn't even see them for the car roof line I really didn't know which way to go. Driving almost anything else I probably would not have had the maneuverability to avoid the housing. As it was I think I saw it flash by my driver's side window on the way down and just a couple of feet to the left I would have taken it right in the windshield (at best).

People can complain about the emission control laws here all they want but you just don't see cars that bad on Ontario (well southern Ont at any rate) highways anymore.

That would explain the air cannon on the roof, the wire mesh in the windows and the guy with the leather harness, goalie mask and horned helmet that was driving.
I just figured they were headed for Detroit!

Drove it in the rain, then drove it back over some muddy oil field roads to get home. I'm going to have to give it a good wash and wax this weekend...

That's exactly what it looks like haha. Luckily my mudflaps catch most of the crap from the oil field roads. But I hate seeing it dirty, even for a couple of days. I also love walking buy "clean" BMWs and Audis to check for swirls and water spots :p
When I wash, I'm using Chemical Guys leather scent. Although Cherry is my go to, cause all the ladies love it :p |
