I didn't like it when Toyota tried to invoke the memory of the hachiroku to sell the new car, it's marketing bs. The idx is purposefully trying to recall the 510 and most of my Nissan cohorts are eating it up, but then Nissan does what Nissan does, they get vague and start talking about weak engines and CVTs with little buttons as if it's a proper manual.

You know what, Nissan, **** you. Enough of your shit. Leave that crate of R32 parts by the door and leave your garage keys in the bowl. We are done. I want to see other cars.

And no, it's NOT me, it IS you.
Previous to the FRS I owned an S13, fun car and lots of fun to work on. Now I have to agree that Nissan is blowing it with its sports cars..... Now I know the GTR is Godzilla and all but at well over 100k now, I will pass. The Z06 is the new Godzilla, sorry. And how many years can they refresh the bloated 370, it weighs too much and is ready for a new chassis. Really sad the once king of tuner cars with the FR platform is weak sauce now.

Don't even get me started on Honda, we aren't even getting the new Civic R which shows promise. The new Miata seems to have the right idea by all reports so far. I thought for sure Nissan would answer the call, sales may not be ruling the world with Toyburu but cmon they have proved there is a market for a sub 30k sports car.

The WRX and EVO are not sports cars. They are economy/family cars dressed up with go-fast parts. There is no such thing as a four-door sports car. Even the fact that people race them does not make them sports cars. People race pickup trucks.

The Mitsubishi GTO, FTO and Eclipse were all front wheel drive. So were the Acura Integra, Honda Prelude and Honda Del Sol. There is no such thing as a front wheel drive sports car. Those are economy cars masquerading as sports cars. The Del Sol is particularly funny because it was just a Civic dressed up to look like a sports car so that people who couldn't actually afford sports cars could pretend they had one.

At best some of these can be classified as sport coupes or sport compacts, classifications that were created to distinguish them from actual sports cars. You can take one of these cars, pump $60K into them to make them faster and STILL not have a sports car.
Probably the dumbest thing I have heard all day...please before going on a tirade do your research next time

Not me. I'm not so sure aftermarket support will be as good for a discontinued car.

I did my research. Those were front wheel drive by default. Some had all wheel drive versions, but there is no such thing as a front wheel drive sports car. Adding rear drive does not suddenly turn an economy sports coupe into a sports car.

It's always funny to see people who think they have a sports car get all butthurt when faced with the fact that they don't. There's nothing wrong with these cars. They're just not sports cars.

How do you define "sports cars".
I looked at, at least 20 different definitions and not one of them say RWD as part of the criteria. In fact by 98% of the online definitions the Twins are not sports cars either.
This argument has been made many time and apparently each individual insists that their own definition of what constitutes a "sports car" is correct and screw what everything else says.
How in the world can it be said that the FRS is a sports car but an Eclipse is not because it has FWD (personally I think neither is a "sports car")?

next generation might see a 10-20hp bump in power if any. the fa20 in n/a form is simply not that responsive to n/a modifications. it might just see a slightly more aggressive tune from the factory to get that horsepower, but i wouldn't suspect too much.

styling may be the only thing that changes, i.e. different front bumper designs. might just be a kouki facelift.

also, i will go out on a limb and say that the brz will go the way of the dodo. at least stateside.

That's because it's just understood. (Except by people who wish they had sports cars but bought front wheel drive cars instead.)

The gto is not fwd by default...the 3000gt had a front wheel drive option and an awd badged the vr4. Also, if you think the gto, supra, Gsx, EVO, and wrx are not sports cars you're an idiot...
