i guess you could say they fell off the back of a truck . haha no, some parts vendor had their last set on clearance, combined with a favorable yen/dollar rate. it was rather interesting though, i drove up to an almost unmarked warehouse filled to the brim with boxes of car parts, handed some dude cash, and it was a done deal.

I am in the same boat (I have ordered some AST 5200) but the fact that I can't maximise my car's performance as is is irrelevant. You will have some awesome top quality dampers that will last you and the life of the car (with servicing).

I look at it like this. On the street the car is plenty fast enough to break every speed law but regardless of how fast I am going I am aware of how the car is handling. (I don't have oem suspension.) So whether I'm doing 50 km/h on street or 150 km/h on track I am still taking in the ride and performance of the dampers. I am suggesting that the quality of the SRCs would not be lost on you.

What I do find hard to understand is HOW springs that stiff can ride so well. All I mean is I need to ride in a car with high end coilovers. I am not an expert but my butt does know what it likes.
More thinking to do.

You might like to re-phrase that!

Yeah, I wimped out a little and went with 9k/10k. The thought of 10k/12k scared me.

So you are running SRC's?
If so "opinion" please.
I can read all the reviews but it still takes a ride to decide.

I'm tired, getting dyslexic. You did say AST's.
Who is selling them now? Only one I know of is Mann & Cygnus.

In the U.S. there seems to be a metric truckload, sorry, I mean imperial truckload of distributors.

I don't track, yet, DD and lots of Autocross.
So with that in mind,
SRC's
Ohlins
RS*R Club Sport
Or any other recommendation.
I tend to err on the upper end. I am more than familiar with "you get what you pay for".
But then, with price point, I could also get a tune with the RS*R CS for the price of the SRC's.
So I need convincing,
I'd like a nice ride but I am too competitive to settle for a nice ride.
Sent an email to your site, CSG, asking the same thing.

Good Day A!!!!
I have internet!! It's been tough finding the right places for internet right now.

The interesting note for suspension is the general mentality that you only need to modify your car to as much as what you may think your abilities can handle. That is a nice, safe, conservative thought process without ever thinking about growth. Equipment is a nice way to cap the level of skill and competitiveness on yourself. Sure you can push the car very hard when you're comfortable, but with the improper equipment, breaking that boundary or limit is exceedingly difficult. Does this sound a bit too philosophical?

Okay onto suspension. Spring rate is NOT an indicator on how well the ride quality and how well the suspension will perform on imperfect roads. Can you tell me what road is perfect? What is the exact definition of suspension? That's right, you need a damper to soak that impact up. With proper valving, you can soak up quite a bit of imperfections well. As the driver/passenger, you'll feel like the ride is "smooth". Keep in mind the spring is what reduces roll tendencies and increases weight transition. You may feel the road better as well, but always remember, the ideal use of suspension is to make sure the tire continuously contacts the pavement for optimal grip.

With that said, we've played with SRCs on multiple platforms, and needless to say, they are one of the best 2-way coilovers on the market at its intended budget. With superior valving, the ride quality is "surprising" for its given spring rate. The absolute limiting factor with this coilover will just be you. Our clients are supported during the tuning process, whether they hire us to dial in everything for them or we provide them with ideas to help them dial in the settings themselves.

RS*R Club Racer Sport-i coilovers are like a lower-cost Ohlins R&T. Spring rate is a little higher for better weight transitioning, but ultimately it functions nearly similar to the Ohlins at a different cost. Ohlins is an excellent company and their name is far reaching all over the world. And the price also reflects the name brand and quality of manufacturing.

As stated earlier, our sponsored driver has driven with your specific setup, RCE T2, and RS*R Club Racers. Just last weekend, we decided to let him toss our shop car around the course a few times (TEIN SRC CSG Spec'd valving). By doing so, he finally understood the idea behind the stiffer rear spring rate and properly valved/dialed in suspension.

Hope all this helps. To wrap it up, it's not about the spring rate that dictates the ride quality, it's the valving.

For an old Philosophical Fart like me, perfect. That was pretty much what I needed to here. Just a matter of the price point in regards to more bang for the buck.
As in buy the RS*R CS & a tune OR Ohlins OR SRC's. And wait on the tune.
Only if I had that money tree in the back yard.
I can always sell the sway bars as they won't really be useful with the SRC spring rate. 20/18 superpro's. Already don't have a lot of droop travel with these.
So I will be contacting you for my Christmas present.
Be a good Santa now ya hear.

I will post my thoughts on the HKS SP as soon as I install them, I will be contacting HKS directly to inquire about proper setup for US roads as I believe they are setup to HKS specs out of the box but most likely for smoother roads as seen in Japan. Once I get the suspension on and dialed in, I will post a review on my thoughts and impressions. That will include any negative/positive thoughts I get from them.
