1981 Datsun 200SX, owned from 1984-1986. That was a fun car and in many ways quite similar to this one. All told it was a bit less powerful (stock,) slightly larger and sat a bit higher but my recollection is one of familiarity every time I get in my car.

You guys had some pretty sweet first cars. This was my first car, which I got from my mom with around 170k miles, and owned for 8 years until I sold it to someone a month ago with 286k miles:

A '65 Mustang coupe, Caspian Blue. Eventually upgraded to a Mustang GT thanks to some poor guy who wrecked his '66. 4.11's, GT motor with the better heads, Edelbrock intake, headers, HTH 4 speed manual tranny, reasonably tall cam. Ran mid 13's at the drag strip.

The carb was always the problem: I had bought a Holley 750, which really was too big for the 289, even with the upgrades. Should have bought a 650, which would have been perfect. The stock carb was a 500, which wasn't bad but a bit too small for the GT version. Great car, but handled like a brick. Still, the most fun I've had up to the FR-S. Now, I'm having more fun! Wish I still had the Mustang though. It would be worth a fortune today.

It would have been worth a fortune about 10 years ago. Unfortunately you would only get about 30% now of what you could have in 04/05. The bottom dropped right out of the classic Mustang market in 06. Now having said that, in 5 years you may get twice as much as you would have back then. Such is the ups and downs of the classic car market.

Yep, definitely with all that weight up front. Drag strip only. There it would have been a blast!

Was definitely mine growing up. I remember playing it in grand torismo and Tokyo extreme racer. Goal was to get it one day and I did still wish they would come out with another one...

Unfortunately they never will now unless they radically change their business plan again. All we will see out of them is econobox sedans, suvs and electric commuters for the foreseeable future.

The VR-4s were so nice. That was my cousin's first car then he eventually traded somebody straight up for their MKIV TT Supra. My cousin was my Gary Oak...

Yeah, tis the sad reality. I wouldn't be surprised if Mitsubishi goes under soon....They can still make tvs, fridges and hvac units I guess.

We use Mitsubishi for our aerospace parts, they build entire spacecraft, they're so diversified they will never disappear, it's mind boggling how big that umbrella is.
