I traded in my '04 SRT4 for my FR-S. Miss the noises and the torque... but not the front wheel drive. I'd say it was a definite trade up!

I went from a 95' Honda Civic LX as a daily driver to my 13' FRS. Huge leap forward for a daily driver. My SW20, the dealer was going to give me peanuts for so it stayed. In fact, I don't think I'll ever get rid of it since they are currently starting to climb in value and the rarity factor is getting up there.

Went from a 2010 corolla to my 14 frs. Loved the corolla even though I was forced to get it, just wasn't mod able and it had some really low miles so sold to Carmax got an FRS which I was waiting for before the corolla!
My mom doesn't care, but my dad loves the shit out of it he came to America in the 80s and always saw the celica supras as a cool car. My uncle use to have a red integra and he loves this thing because of the similar nature

Nothing in the pole applies to me as I see it.
I kinda traded across.. My 05 Mustang GT coupe, man trans is parked for the moment. My new play toy...2015 FRS Man trans. is my driver for now. hate to tell the Mustang guys, but this FRS just titillates the crotch a little more. I sold both of my evos (2003 VIII and 2011 X) for the FRS (for me) and an ST3 Focus ST for the fiance.
I miss the uniqueness (way too many FRSs in my area), power, AWD, and interior (yes, I'm weird) of the evo's. But, gas mileage was annoying and the VIII was getting long in the tooth. Plus it was a better financial move. However, I do miss the evos quite a lot. |

I traded down from my 5th gen Camaro SS. I had been eye-balling the GM 1LE suspension package for cars that came out before the 1LE had been available, and I'm sure I would have loved it. However, my wife lost her job and a V8 sports car was more of a luxury than I needed to have. So I went to a four-cylinder. I was saving about $300 a month between payment, gas, and insurance. Do I miss the sound and power of a LS3, yes. I'm sure I'll get an old fifth gen in a few years once they get cheaper.
EDIT: fast forward a year later to where my wife has a good job, and trades in her Scion xB for a v6 camaro, lol. Life is funny sometimes... |

I had an STI hatch. Most people think of it as a trade-down, but I think the FR-S is more fun, so it was a trade-up IMO.
I also had an 09 Boxster S. I'd say (and most people would agree) it was a trade-down from that.

Around here the FRS is unique and you can't walk a block without tripping over some level of Lancer/Ralliart/Evo (remember, to the non "car guy" public a base model Lancer LE looks the same as a top level Evo). In 2003 I had one of the first Lancer Rally Editions in Ontario (we had no Lancers here before that) and it stood out from the crowd and everybody would stare. Just 3 years later it was such a common sight that it was just another car. The Focus ST was also on my short list and is actually a great driving car (Ford surprised the crap outta me with it) but yet again there are so many around I couldn't bring myself to buy one. I like me some unusual cars!

"Trade down" from a BMW 135i. N54 goodness, twin turbo I6, full bolt ons, 11 sec car on drag radials.
I miss the speed and power for sure, but I enjoy the FRS just fine. Cheaper on gas and insurance and payments too is nice.

I went from a Lexus CT200h to the FR-S. For me it is a major upgrade, though I believe many people look down their noses at anything wearing the Scion badge. I couldn't care less! This car makes my daily 100 miles of driving a lot more fun. I figure the operating cost between the two cars is pretty much a wash so win/win.
