Gotta say, I'm loving that there's only one trim level and no factory options available on this car. Makes finding the exact one you want much easier.

Well, Firestorm Red is my third choice of color. So should something go wrong with the deal I've got right now (knock on wood), it's good to know I'm not *completely* without options.

It's not just you. My guess is he was banned for spamming. Haven't read the fine print on this site, but most forums do have rules against dealers trying to drum up business for their dealerships in the non-classifieds sections of the forum. I thought it was kinda useful for him to let us know what they had, but he was also kinda whoring out the dealership name all over the place.

Dont the mods normally give out warnings or something before ban?

That's actually what I thought too. I was looking at all the other posts he put on the forum and they were all just spamming the same thing about to come by, no markups and whatnot. Too bad though, it was nice to have a dealership representative on the forums.

Anyways, I talked to the two of the other dealerships in the area because the dealership I currently have a reservation with (Findlay) doesn't have my color. As of right now, none of the dealerships here have their allotment fully reserved so if you guys can't find a color or tranny that you want at one dealership, be sure to check out the others.

Other sites, yes... usually. Here? Dunno... only been here a few weeks, myself. And as far as we know, he might of had a whole inbox full of warnings he disregarded. I honestly don't know; I'm just speculating like mad here.

If that is what happened, I'm kinda conflicted. On the one hand, I don't want pushy salespeople spoiling what should be an area for enthusiasts to discuss our rides (not that I thought Carlos was one of these; just saying). But on the other, actually having sales people join us on the forum allows for an open, honest conversation you can't get in the dealerships, and the typical salesmen B.S. tactics don't fly here. Heh, some of the best reading I've had this whole year was somewhere on this site when Subaru of Las Vegas decided to join up, and address some accusations against their dealership. Our BRZ-purchasing brethren tore that poor man a new hole, and quite frankly he deserved it.

I agree. To me, the problem is that dealerships hire salespeople, and not enthusiasts. Salespeople move product by using the same old techniques taught in business school: get people to actually come in the door, make the product seem limited and exclusive, concentrate on getting a commitment of any kind great or small from them...

By comparison, an enthusiast will sell you a car by making you WANT it. He'll know what's available in the aftermarket; and tell you what you should or shouldn't use on your car not based on margin of profit for the dealership, but rather what's quality or what fits your needs. And enthusiast will get excited talking about the car, and bored talking about finance options.

THIS is the kind of person I like to purchase from. To date, I've met only one such salesman, and yes... I bought a car from him. But apparently dealerships feel it's more profitable to pressure you into a car now, rather than get your what you want and guarantee future business and referrals. (I mean that; it's not sarcasm. It really is more profitable).

...oh hell, I was ranting again, wasn't I? Sorry... rant over!

I had only read Carlos's most recent post, which was the list of cars available. I saw that post in it's own thread in the vendor section (fine by me), but I don't think it's right to hijack someone else's thread with that post, which was beginning to happen in this thread - nor should that post be a simple cut and paste plastered in multiple threads. This is most likely why all the posts disappeared.

Did Carlos ever offer up more neutral or unsalesman-like conversation in other threads? I never had a chance to look...

Im sorry guys. This is Carlos Aldanese from Findlay Scon.

They did ban my other account saying I was Spamming and I am sorry for that and I will not do that anymore. I am very excited about this FR-S that is coming out. I myself am a tuner. I had many cars including a fully built MR-2 with over 400 HP that I built in my garage also a Toyota Corona with a 1jz swap that I had done, also an ae86 with a 20v swap, and a few other cars and bikes that I have used for various drift and road track events.

I was not trying to just sell the remaining fr-s's that we have incoming. I wanted to get the word out about this great car that Scion is producing. I have seen this car previously and just want to let everyone know it is going to be a great car. If anyone is interested in it or has any question about it please let me know. I will be happy to answer any question about ths car that I have answers to.

Thank you

No worries, man. Glad to have you back.

Now, we *can* be a paranoid lot around here. And I can't help but notice your user name... Turbo 87. And you do *kinda* work in the industry, so to speak...

So tell me: when does the TRD edition FR-S come out, how much horsepower is it making, and why aren't you taking my money for it right now?!!! CLEARLY YOU KNOW SOMETHING, AND AREN'T TELLING US!!! LOL...

Kidding aside, though, you heard anything about TRD performance parts yet? Personally would rather build up an existing car, than to upgrade to an entirely new model in a couple of years, but I've heard some dealers saying we won't be getting the good stuff from Japan, due to costs. What's your take on that?
