I don't know your finance situation, but I still think it's a very poor financial move, especially to jump into basically the same exact car. Why not just go used? Either way I really don't think your experience is going to be that much different or even better necessarily.

It's also important to remember you're in absolutely no rush here. Your car isn't going anywhere, the FR-S isn't going to end production any time soon. If your mind is absolutely made that you want to do this, it doesn't matter if you do it tomorrow or six months from now.

Never pay MSRP or above for a car you don't absolutely have to have and can't get elsewhere. FR-S's are everywhere. My local dealer has like 15 alone, and your area probably has more. Perhaps wait until the very end of the year if you really have to do this. Dealers may be very motivated at the very end of the year. I would try to go for invoice pricing if anything. Use the time you have and negotiate with other dealers. You're already taking a huge hit on depreciation, why not do some due diligence to minimize your losses by getting a "great" deal on a new car or shop used to nullify some depreciation.

If you remove the viper alarm please do it properly, I've seen a lot of cars with viper alarms that go to shit electronically when someone installs or removes them incorrectly

Thanks bro. Huge hit and a financial mistake? Yes very, but I'm absolutely set on it. I found another dealer willing to let it go for 25,050 which is msrp 24,900 +150 for some reason. I'm going in tomorrow to get my car appraised by them. I will take your advice and wait for a crazier deal. But what angle do you recommend me playing tomorrow?

Yeah no worries, the original people who installed my alarm are the ones taking it off and installing it on the new one free.

While I do agree I don't think it's the best financial decision in this case, and that you should never pay above MSRP (unless there are added accessories), you're forgetting about Scion's Pure Pricing.

As long as the price is the same on the website and at the dealership, they are not allowed to lower the price. The price you see is the price you pay. Now if the dealership wants to lower the price on the Scion, they have to post it inside the vehicle, inside the Scion showroom, and on the website.

The only time they will usually do this is if the car has been on the lot too long, excessive mileage, lot damage, off color that doesn't sell well, etc. Just a few things to keep in mind if you see one online that has been reduced.

Peachsnow, what is your experience with this dealership you've been working with? Do you like your salesperson? Has he/she been informative and not pushy? Good dealership services? If you trust your salesperson and they have the car you want, just go ahead and seal the deal. There's no point in wasting your time going from dealership to dealership to find a few more hundred bucks (appraisers in the same region are only a few hundred under/over on the appraisal of a vehicle), working with someone you may not end up liking/trusting, and with a dealership you have no intentions on working with in the future. This is not including all of them will tell you the same story with Pure Pricing.

Also consider if you wait for a FR-S to show up on a website at a lower price due to whatever above stated reasons, consider your trade value will drop if you wait too long. Appraisers get their value based off of how many they have in their inventory at the time, how well they're selling, the dollar amount they're bringing at auction, and the ever infamous two variables that most customers think that only matters, condition and mileage.

If you're dead set on negotiating, go buy a BRZ or a used FR-S. Otherwise based on my experiences, you're getting a fair deal.

OKAY GUYS. I GOT THE BEST DEAL IN THE WORLD! Lol, so this morning when my dad and I was about to go to another dealership. He said hold up, why are we trading in the car? Let me just keep it and use it for you work and you can buy a new one. I said well ok then , since he uses his a 2002 toyota tundra to drive everywhere which gets about 18 to the gallon. Why not?

Any who, the dealership I went to sold me the car at 25,050, how? They discounted $1000 basically which took care of the Halo Color+Deliver fees. After getting the exact price I wanted, I jumped on the deal right away. Supposed to go pick up my new baby tomorrow!

Thank you so much to everyone who contributed, especially the ones who told me it was a financial mistake. We were better off keeping both cars in the family. Hearing what you guys were saying, made me realize that i was about to throw away about 7-8k for no reason lol.

Anyway, the only problem that I would have tomorrow is the FRS that they are bringing in, if they drilled into the bumper. I told them, they have to replace the bumper or else they would have to special order me one. Since i'm planning to keep the front licence plate off.

Will do! From what I felt from the test drive last week. Taking the corners felt much more solid than the 2013. I didn't feel any body roll. Whatever they did to the suspension, it's a huge improvement to me.

Don't fall for that Scion Pure Pricing crap. I've been to 4 Scion dealerships in Orlando and 2 of them have told me they can't budge on the price because of Scion Pure Pricing and I walked out the door without a moments hesitation. I personally spoke to the GM of the other 2 who told me there are definitely ways around Pure Pricing. I ended up getting my car for below invoice....I paid $24,500 plus tax, tag, and dealer fees which brought it to $27,400 out the door....for a 2015 automatic halo. Now if you do the math, you will realize that price is not a "pure price" lol. I can upload my paperwork if anyone doesn't believe me.....there are deals out there to be had, you just have to know how to talk to people.

Well done! In your Southeast Toyota region, they often have incentives separate and more generous than TMS programs.

Around here, they ignore PP and some even show discounts right on their websites. Here's one, and those prices are before customer cash certain to apply later next month. With incentives and negotiation steps provided earlier, it should be relatively easy to buy near or even below invoice.
