The FT-1/Supra has: -chassis development costs -engine/drivetrain development costs -will probably employ lots of CF = high per-unit fabrication costs I'd fully expect it to be in 911/GT-R price range.

Problem with your analysis is Lexus is a premium brand and priced as such with the premium goodies you'd expect. They are designed to have bigger profit margins. So a $55K Toyota Supra fits right in. Honestly thinking Toyota or anyone foreign manufacturer can make a comparable or better performance car than a Corvette for less money is just delusional. There is no economic logic to that idea. |

Really needs a I6 and if not that the a V6 will have to do, both should be turbo but that goes without saying. I'm out If its a I4 or a V8.

This should easily be z06 money. Any less and the bean counters might raise concerns about it taking away from the RCF.

The Lexus sports car will be Z06 money, not the Supra according to what some of the reported roadmaps look like. They don't compete in the same sector with an RC-F just like a Corvette doesn't compete with a M3/4.

I still don't understand the speculation of BMW partnership with this car.

Toyota Japan engineers have more than once. So has BMW's confirmed many times over the past year. Calty is just a design studio in Orange County. They do relatively little to no engineering of the actual car apart from the skin and interior. The Toyota campus is up by LA and they are moving to Plano Texas. Calty will stay put more than likely. So you know more about what Calty does. [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Calty_Design_Research"]Calty Design Research - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia[/ame] |

With rumors about price inflation rampant, if/when the FT-1 arrives they'll be selling against off-lease C7's and Cayman S's for $40K+/-, their target market. If it were me, I'd save the $25K and go with one of the others, the FT-1 v.2.0 is already starting to look overstyled.
