Not a chance. Even 1 click back the seat was hitting her leg.

It actually bugs me that there isn't a lock - if I'm careless and slide back, it will actually hit/hurt her since the seat does go right up against the back seat.

That's the other thing that's annoying for getting in and out of the back. My old 85 supra had the lever to put the seat forward/slide forward (to get in and out of the back) but then when you put the seat back it returned to exactly where you had it before. This car doesn't do that - you have to readjust your recline each time.

Don't put the kid in the front - better to slide the front seat all the way forward. There's TONS of room for a rear/front facing seat IF the front passenger seat is all the way forward (ie, unusable).

Wow, do you mean that there is no such a mechanism (quick release) to easily slide the seat forward and back to easy entry? The only way is to actually slide the seat back and forth for entry.

That is a down side from this if you intend to use the rear seats.

Both, actually. The seat does not slide forward/back at all unless you use the normal adjust bar in the front, AND the recline clicks to the most upright position rather than your "set" position. Very odd. If you are sitting in the back there is a pull cord to make the seat recline forward, but you'd think it would also slide forward to help you get out.

Saw the patient today, you can barely tell by looking other than the scuff and the scuffed wheels. But it pulls hard to the right so there's some suspension parts to be fixed.

I thought it looked nice enough to be put in the showroom (might as well generate some traffic). But I can see why under the bright lights it might not be show-quality.

I would be very interested to see what parts bent and how. It'll be good to identify possible weak points as soon as possible.

Ouch!! That is something to worry about. I have a coupe, and I am using that quick release mechanism all the time to get my kid out (both side). If you have use the rear seat all the time, it would be pain in the butt to use the regular sliding lever (no access from the back) to slide the seat forward.

Hmmmm... Decision decision...

One other point about the seats. The driver seat base can be raised and lowered pivioting at the front. The passenger seat however does not do that. When you raise the drivers seat base it creates toe room for a back seat passenger under the seat. There is no toe room under the passenger seat period! A simple addition to the passenger seat would have made the rear seating more flexible. This is really a 2 seater with more space, like a standard mini.

I test drove one on Wedensday, but the test drives were not really long enough to more broadly appreciate the real characteristics of the car as an everyday driver.

Most of the online stuff is all about drifty and letting the tail hang out at the race track, all good stuff for hyping the car but not much good for everyday!

Now, to be fair... you haven't seen how I drive everyday! LOL...

Good to know about the height adjustment on the driver's seat. I got the impression from a couple of online reviews that there was no such adjustment, and the reviewers thought the seats too low. <sigh> Seems any shmuck with two opposable thumbs can become a journalist these days.

The parts that bend/break are designed to do this. The engineered failure points dissipate and redirect the forces so as to spare damage to the unibody etc. You want these parts to break an an accident vs not failing and putting all of that in to something much more difficult and expensive to repair.

Ideally, yes. But not always. This is a new car, so the real world can still surprise the engineers.
