First you'd have to buy the obvious external body parts. Then start placing them onto the body to get an idea of where the crumpled beer can needs to be. Then pull out the damage on a frame rack the best possible. Pull the engine and start drilling spot welds and replacing the unibodies frame. Then a whole lotta aligning/welding/swearing/measuring/drinking and you might get it close to where it should be. Hang the body panels to check position/remove/re check x9000 times. Paint the frame rails/engine bay, reinstall engine (provided it isn't wrecked.) and finish the exterior as done.
-fenders -hood -headlights/damaged hid components -bumper cover -hood hinges -crash bar -bumper asorber -foglights -core support -radiator -ac condensor -fan shroud -hood hinge -hood hinge support -horns -crash senors -airbags? -left upper frame rail -right upper frame rail -anything hit on the engine. This car uses HSS (highstrength steel) which cannot be heated and repaired by conventional methods due to it changing the structure. You cannot section HHS so it has to be removed as a whole piece. I haven't checked this car specifically but most connect somewhere along the firewall/ door. Some lower frame rails extend well under the firewall/floor. Hooray for gutting the interior! (or risk fire!) Keep in mind there isn't shit for cheap certifit/aftermarket parts and there isn't a lot of parts in the junkyards (yet.) OEM new is $$$

Something I hadn't considered until reading about it on another thread here is the possibility of internal engine damage due to the shock of the collision.
Seems legit but I have zero first-hand experience. Anyone else care to validate/dispute? Shit, @Kiske, it's like you've done this before. |

If you plan on using it on public roads, at a bare legal minimum you'll need liability insurance but most carriers will reject a branded title car.

This is a great idea if you are going to keep the car and have no plans on selling it. I did the same thing you did came out with a perfectly running car and saved a good amount of money (i could never afford this car for full price) feel free to pm me and i would be more than glad to help. I searched for my car for a couple months before i found one that was worth saving theres things you need to look out for. Goodluck!

I am going to go with the "If you have to ask, you probably should not go there" crowd.
A minor fender bender took 4k to fix up on my car. I see a LOT worse on that red car. Are you a bodyman or just a guy with tools? For the most part, rebuilds only work out for shops that have the tools, staff and suppliers already in place. |

Almost every picture where the car was hit from the front or back looks surprisingly the same really.
