The answer is 'yes'. It's not that the lens isn't suited for video, but the operator. The long shots could have been improved with better FPS (was @ 24fps), slightly faster shutter than the 180 rule and improved focus. You can tell looking at the Bi-Mart sign in the background vs the grass in the foreground I had the focus set slightly wrong.

I should have shot everything in 720@60FPs and dialed more sharpness on the camera's settings because I always shoot soft/flat with the intention of correcting in post and I always forget. I did add some contrast in post which should be rather apparent. FWIW, I put this together while stuck on a boring conference call for work.

As for the Lens, I love it and I wish it was mine. However if I'm ready to drop $800-900 on a zoom lens I will try to find a Sigma 50-500mm F4.5-6.3 APO used.

Here's a video shot with the 50-500 + a 2x Teleconverter:
[ame="http://vimeo.com/84486612"]M42: Live View Optical Zoom on Vimeo[/ame]

Edit: I pulled up the video project again, dialed in sharpening and adjusted settings to reflect 60fps and just about all the footage from the Sigma 500mm looked way better. What you're seeing in the video really is a result of the photographer/editor as opposed to the lens.

@Midarete
A longer shutter would've been awesome on that picture.

Was way too cold for me to do it haha. I prefer it this way, but yea now that you mention it. I wonder how it would have looked with a longer exposure

Everywhere I go I always have a compact (25-300mm eqiv,1/2000-60 sec) and a small table top tripod. Sure, the quality isn't great but then again my monitor is only 1920x1080. It's biggest failing is dynamic range but that can be tweaked a little in PShop. Leaving one's uber camera at home doesn't result in good pictures.

It's nice the Canon has the HDR function built in. Shot these in RAW, edited in Canon Digital Photo Pro, converted JPG.

My first time shooting/editing HDR.

I'm in the Tacoma area but that shot is on my drive to the local Safeway. I was headed out the door for groceries and noticed the sky was clear so I brought the camera along.

Not that it isn't obvious but that's Mt. Rainier.

It snowed here in Idaho, so I went on a little shoot in Winter Mode.
