Hey everyone, just picked up my 2013 BRZ limited past monday after driving a friends FRS. Have to say, might be the most universally fun car ive ever driven! I have a heavy mech background so you'll surely see me floating around all over the forum.

Hello 86ers!

Picked up my 2015 FRS Firestorm MT on October 29 and I'm in love. Before these beauties were released, I had a DP on a WRB BRZ. I pulled out for various reasons and tried to deny my auto lust. Thankfully I came to my senses and I'm extremely satisfied. Oh, and I'll explain my FRS decision in another post, if anyone's interested.

Best,
Brendan

Hey all, I'm Rob, and have bitten with the 86 bug!

I don't have one (yet), but seriously want this to be my next driving machine. It's mostly about the lines and handling. I don't care how fast a car can go, because of you can't handle it, what good is it?

I sold Hyundais for seven years so I've partial to that brand, with the Accent SE being my main car since it rolled off the truck in Sept. 2012. Fun little car with some nice handling for what it is. The Gen Coupe is a beast, but it's a little too large for my liking. One thing that always irked me about Hyundai is their fear to step up and produce a niche performance vehicle; they have the capability, but still fall into the "please everybody" mentality. I always thought it they would drop the 1.6 turbo from the Veloster into an Accent hatch (the 2 cars share the same platform) - boom, an affordable hot hatch with 200 hp!!

Anyhoo, my dream car sits I the garage: A DeLorean! I need to get her back on the road, but until that time she's safe and sound!

A couple of questions about the FRS: can you really order one, or is it a dealer trade? I know I want Hot Lava, and the Borla exhaust on the Scion site seems like a nice addition, as they've always had a nice note.

Would I be better off just finding a car at a dealer and upgrading that myself?

I'm not a racer, and unsure if I'd track it (if so it'd be a casual outing to learn the car). The car will be a daily driver making a 50 mile round trip each day, but I like a car to sound nice when I punch it.

Thanks for reading, hope to become a part of the community over time and join the club sooner rather than later!

Hi Spec.
Best off to hit up a few dealers. Their pure pricing means that you probably can't do much on their price but... it opens the door to get a deal on any add ons.
I have the TRD exhaust on mine and as a DD find it just about right on the money. Really nice tone but won't have your neighbours coming over with torches and pitchforks if you go to work early in the morning.
I spend up to 14 hours a week commuting in mine and it is just about perfect for the purpose.
and Lava is a great choice!
Oh and what happens when you hit 88 in the Delorean?

You get a ticket! Lol!

It's so much fun driving a DeLorean, you feel like a rock star everywhere you go! I truly wish more manufacturers would utilize gullwing doors, they're so nice and easy to get out of (not to mention you don't have to worry about someone parking too close to open the door and not being able to squeeze in!)

Yeah, Pure Pricing grates against everything I've been taught selling cars, and to me is just a way to keep a hold of that $1200 usd or so markup between invoice and sticker (I'll haggle the heck out of ADM too, as we did that on our lot!)

I've seen folks talk about the TRD exhaust, but haven't heard it yet. If I get a car without it, I suppose I would try to work it into the deal and have it installed before final delivery, bit that could be problematic if I bought out of state (I'm near Huntsville, Alabama, central location from Nashville, TN and Birmingham, AL).

Good to know about the note being nice but not loud, I do have to head out at 6am! I do like a smooth baritone note that deepens to a growl when you get on it, though!

That's exactly what you get. It is not exactly what I would call "quiet" just not a earth shattering roar like some. There are sound clips some place in the exhaust tech section. Not great quality but you get the idea.

I disagree on the pure price scheme as a holdup as when I bought mine from Woodbridge toyota I got them to come down a lot as I found a newer sales rep who wanted to make a sale and proceeded to use other dealer quotes to push him down. It took 2 weeks of negotiating but well worth it. Make them bid for your business

Yep!
That was exactly why I said hit up a "few dealers" as some will certainly bargain.
My particular dealer would not touch the dealer advertised (Note: this price does not have to be MSRP it is what the dealer sets) base price but went way high on my trade in and gave me a pile of goodies for free or very deeply discounted. In the end what I paid for the car was well below the asking price even though that number actually never changed.

Does that statement make sense at all?? I know what I mean so hope everybody else does!

If you have a photo that is local (not on a website) you would use the paperclip to upload and post it. There is a size limit though so watch for that. You may want to resize to 1024x768 or so.

Makes perfect sense, instead of haggling price, you negotiated trade ACV/accessories. We used to do it all the time where I worked!

Discounting an increase in trade-in value (which I could argue that means they low-balled you in the first place) it makes sense if what you negotiated were things you would have purchased anyway, and therefore was a reduction in your original expected price.

However, if what they are throwing in (for other than free) are things you didn't want, or wouldn't have paid for in the first place, it really isn't much of a savings, they actually made MORE money off of you in the end.
