Pulled over 2x so far

1st incident;
Had the car (red '14 FRS) for 3 months. I was having a little fun and must have been going at least 40mph on 25mph road when the cop passed me going in the opposite direction. He immediately made a u-turn on a 2x yellow road and followed me for another 5 minutes before turning his lights on. I pulled over and he confirmed with me if I knew what the speed limit was. He said he clocked me going 43 mph and hitting the 2x yellow lines when going through the bend. I was honest and just apologized for going a little too fast. Instead of a 15mph over (3 points), I got a careless driving ticket ($85) fine. I'm not sure how many points it is but I have a court date for it coming up where I'm gonna try to pay a higher fine and get no points. In the end he just told me to drive safely and slow down.

2nd incident;
Just happened last week actually. Was going downhill on a road with a speed limit of 45mph. I was going with the flow of traffic ~50mph or so. On the way back (uphill now), a silver Honda Pilot started following me very closely. I changed lanes into the slow lane but the Honda Pilot still continued to follow me. Now I'm going 55mph (on a road w/ a speed limit of 45mph). All of a sudden I hear a police siren behind me and see police lights. Turns out that I was being tailed by an unmarked police officer. I was shocked because I thought the police uses american made cars but I guess I was wrong. Immediately the cop informs me that they (police) have been getting calls about me and how there is a red toyota coupe speeding down this road. He informs me that he clocked me going 65mph in a 45 downhill(20 over) and thought I was running away from him. Again, I just apologized and just said that "I have no excuse; I apologize, officer, I wasn't paying attention to my speed downhill". He calmed down after he came back from checking my papers. He asked me "is this your car", I answered that its a lease in my fathers name. I was shi$%ing bricks during this whole time because I knew he would see my 1st ticket of careless driving in my driving history and really lay into me for my 2nd offense. But he didn't even mention my 1st offense. Thankfully he let me go with "I don't why... but I'm gonna give you a break. Calm down when you're driving".
Part of me thinks, he had nothing on me because IF I was really going 65mphs downhill, he would have pulled me over right then and there. I think he just saw a red coupe going 5-10mph over(w/ flow of traffic) and just wanted to see if he could scare the crap out of me (which he did).

Any who after these 2 instances, I'm seriously considering weather a 400-500$ radar detector is worth the hassle. I feel like even when you go with the flow of traffic, all cops have eyes on me because the firestorm /red color stands out.

Haven't had any issues except a cop who waved angrily at me for downshifting in a narrow street where it sounded absolutely monstrous (reason I did it)

Don't know about the States and NJ in particular but since the demise of the Crown Vic the cops around here are using a lot of cars seized as "proceeds of crime".
They have Mustangs, Camaros, Challengers and at least one beat to crap old full sized beige Buick I see all the time. They just slap some light bars in the grill and on the back, and stick some grey coloured stealth police stickers on the sides and trunk.
Nothing quite like doing 20 over on the highway and geting all pissy when some Camaro flashes by you doing at least 20 more and then seeing the sticker and lights on the back!

Radar detector won't help if they are pacing you and you have no clue it is a cop.

Same around here and they rotate the fleet every few months, sending the confiscated cars/trucks/SUV's to auction.

Don't think they do that here as I have seen the same ones for years.
Besides I doubt they want to give up the couple of Escalades I have seen them using!

Never been pulled over in my BRZ.

However, in my 180SX when I was in college, I was heading to school one day in December and I had actually just purchased a Legacy GT to replace my 180SX as someone had backed into it and I lost interest in doing body work for the third time on it. It was the last day driving my 180SX as it was for sale and I intended to park it until I sold it. Decided to rip away from a traffic light to enjoy the car one last time, I let off at 173km/h (70km/h limit) according to my power FC, and immediately noticed flashing lights about 1km behind me. I could have easily turned off and evaded them in a community, but I decided just to pull over and take it. Pulled over, waited about 45 seconds for the officer to show up. As hes walking up to my left window (car was RHD) I realize my power FC is running on the max value screen attached to my dashboard where I could see, and I did not want to shut the car off on a hot turbo. Officer comes up and asks me how fast I was going and I said I didn't know hoping he didnt look toward my power FC. He estimated I was doing 120km/h and it was right at that point I decided to shut off my car so he couldn't see that 173km/h on my power FC.

I also didn't have my insurance and registration on me as I had taken it out to deal with insurance after my car was hit and forgot to put it back into the car after.

Ended up with no speeding fines, no points and $360 in failure to provide insurance and registration cars. I was extremely honest with the officer other than my speed and it paid off.

what else did you have to be honest with? You pretty much lied about the one thing they pulled you over for

Only time i got pulled over in my FRS was by a pretty blonde and very smiley lady cop, she got me doing 85km/h in a 60 while I was on my way to meet a friend to head out to a track day lmfao I was like half a kilometer from the Tim Hortons he was waiting at, and after explaining that to her she dropped it to 15 over 👍 50 dollar ticket vs 250 and 2 points
In my 2010 Golf however... I got pinched doing 156 in a 100 at 4am the Monday after super bowl Sunday on my way to work, cop explained how serious that ticket was, and rather than impounding my car I got a 49 over, 350 dollar ticket and idn how many points but he let me drive away.. Only to find out 2 weeks later that the MTO was suspending my license for a month, 😕 that fuckin sucked.
Pretty sure he was just surprised and thankfull I wasn't drunk

Getting Pulled Over!

I was with a group of cars traveling to Vegas from San Diego in my red brz. I'm in a carpool lane with the other cars and I proceed to get passed by three cars. ( I wasn't traveling fast enough I guess... I was with my wife and we were celebrating our 10 year anniversary.) Up a small hill I see a cop and I don't think much about it since I'm not the fastest car out there and it wasn't like I was going too fast (75 in a 70). Immediately the chp pulls out and pulls me over.

First words out my mouth... Is something wrong with my car?

Cop: how many tickets do you have? You were driving reckless.

Me: what? I may have been slightly over the speed limit but I wasn't reckless. And I proceed to tell him that it's my anniversary and my wife and I are headed to Vegas.

Cop: I'm giving you a ticket anyway for driving 80 in a 65.

Me: are you sure it wasn't the other cars that passed me?

Cop: yours is the only one that looks like it should be speeding.

Wtf man! 300 bucks later....

I've been pulled over only once so far (in my life, and it was with the BRZ), pretty weird story. I was on a busy road just driving normally during rush hour traffic. I was in the right lane and there was were 2 cop cars that had (I'm assuming) pulled over some other car and they were all in the shoulder.

After I go about 100ft past them, one of the cop cars rushes towards me with lights on, siren blasting. I was just so confused and thought that MAYBE it was for my exhaust but I was barely moving! So whatever, he pulls me over and I'm waiting for a GOOD 10 minutes before he comes out, looked like he was checking something on the computer.

Finally comes out and says "Hi, you're good to go. Nice car by the way! What is this, a Subaru right?" *looks at my registration sticker on the window* "Oh wow 2013 brand new nice. All right well have a good day."

I was thinking to myself "all righty then, what in the hell just happened." The only thing I said was "thank you" as he was walking back to his car. I really wish I knew what made him pull me over!
