My friends at MotoIQ posted a little review and install article yesterday! Thanks Mike!

They got some really good shots of the installed skid plates, as well as a really detailed install. It sure helps to have a lift, and good lighting.

Thanks,
I want a BRZ version! Please?

Wish I had this...oh about 1 week ago. Got my first under bumper scratch being neglectful pulling up to a curb in a parking spot. I knew better and still did what I did. I am ordering these!

The protection looks minimal along the anterior aspect of the underside of the bumper. Especially where the fangs are. Is it just me or does coverage seem minimal where the underside of the bumper takes the brunt of scrapes if they happen. May just be the pics...

AVodka14,
the plates do project further forward where the fangs are, but only slightly. We went through several revisions on the design, to maximize protection, without exacerbating the problem of striking the ground. I feel that the current revision does a good job.

as a side note, you can see on the MOTOIQ article,

http://www.motoiq.com/MagazineArticl...kidplates.aspx

My bumper is damaged in the area you mentioned, but that damage is what prompted me to design the plates in the first place, and I ran low and with no skid plates for like 1.5 years or so

BTW, do you work in health care? i am told that the fangs are actually the Superior Lateral portion of the bumper!

I just installed the skid plate last week. The guard is located correctly at the lowest point along the leading edge of the bumper, it does not extend out to the fangs. But the fangs are slightly higher than the rest of the bumper and the plate. The scraping damage I have received up to this point are all covered by the skid plate.

Thank you to Mitch, and to Whataboutbob for showing how the skid plate is installed and how it looks.

I am wondering that too... especially after seeing this picture - it appears to protect the underside but not the points/corners.

If it could go right up to the actual corner on the body, or even better just a little around the corner, it would protect so much better... right on the corner gets the scratch that is visible!

Thanks for the feedback. I am deciding between these and a lip spoiler. To cover up damage and prevent further damage.

Yes, I am in healthcare. What about anterior superolateral?

Mystery Machine,

I think part of what you are seeing is the difference between an FRS and a BRZ. I got a good look at the BRZ today, and the underside of the bumper has a much larger flat spot for the plates to attach to, so they will end up covering more area, and getting closer to the edge of the bumper. On the FRS, the bumper starts to curve upward much earlier.

AVodka14,

I hear you on the front lip. There are some good looking ones out there, and I would probably have one too, if I wasn't an autocrosser.

Probably worth noting here that you bring up a good point about my plates. They will not take the place of careful driving, and are meant to help mostly on driveways and rain ditches where the striking point is more the bottom side of the bumper. If you are hitting the front, (as in high, square curbs or parking bricks or posts) they won't be as helpful.
