While I do kinda like the look of the photoshopped version of the FT-86 targa, I don't think I could be bothered to deal with it. Always seemed like it would be more of an nuisance than anything else.

And the FT-HS doesn't quite do it for me. Still looks very "concept-ish" to me from most angles... like it still needs refining. I kinda like the side view there (with the roof down), but the rear and front look odd to me.

Wouldn't mind a targa. I enjoyed my Del Sol.

A clear yes for me.
A targa doesen't spoil the shape of the car in the same way as a ragtop
And it's not as heavy or expensive as a modern automatic folding arrangement like on the Volvo C70.
Yet it eliminates the need for air conditioning, and it lets you feel the wind through your hair and the sun on your face.

Basically, it's perfect!

I own a targa top Supra. Hard-top is the way to go. But if you insist on the targa, some advice. Make sure you bolt it down before you hit 100km/h. Replacements aren't cheap. Speaking from experience...

if its a targa top like the FT-HS has, that drops and drags the rear window down, then yes, i would pay a little extra for that (cant be more than 2G more, its not that hard to do, might be very hard to manufacture properly, reliably and repeditevly tho)

I personally love the way the supra and 300zx look with a targa top and the ft-86 would look great too!

Do you want a targa top, or the option for one on your FT-86??

Someone did...

Holy crap. I actually LIKE that.. the black over blue (and the line they chose), the mesh wheels, the louvers, AND the targa. Great job putting the throwback elements in place. What an amazing car! Can't wait for the rest of SEMA!!!!!

No on the targa option. Prefer some additional factory power options with larger wheels and tires.

I would sell my soul for a Targa Top. Has anyone contacted Cartel Customs to see how much it would cost for them to modify current 86's with a Targa Top?
