My steering wheel is normal matte leather look, unlike the '13 I originally test drove and that people seem to be having issues with.
IMHO they fixed the issue somewhere along the line... |

Mine peeled and they replaced under warranty at 9500 miles. I was pissed never had a well do this in a 25k$ car befiore in under 50k miles. Wtf. I can already notice wear on new one with only 500 miles or less on it. Not cool. Car chirps like a mofo also and im considering getting a plate that says kriket

After fighting the warranty denial for my steering wheel peel, I just got a new one installed a week ago. Previous wheel started to peal around 4.5K miles. It's crazy how fast the wheel degrades.

That's extremely stupid they wouldn't replace it originally. But weird question do you use lotion or put anything on your hands before driving?

No, but I can't discredit that it's possible I had greasy hands from something at one point or another. Now I'm very aware of my hand cleanliness. Regardless, the wheel is very cheaply made.

Well mine just started peeling as well. I have about 13,xxx miles and have had the car almost two years. No products ever used on the steering wheel, nor do I use antibacterial. Hopefully they replace with no issue.

I recommend using a quality leather cleaner conditioner to maintain the new steering wheel

I had a 14 which was totaled and replaced it with a used 13. The first thing I noticed when I test drove it was the steering wheel felt different. The 13 has a smoother glossier feeling and (though this could just be my mind playing tricks on me) felt harder thinner. I noticed pealing on my steering wheel last week and will be taking it in to hopefully get replaced.
