My friend put a hidden fuel cut off switch that would block the fuel line ask they wouldn't get more than a block before it sputtered out. It saved his car once.

The fuel cut-off switch is a good one. There are also various fuses you can pull if the car is going to be parked for a while.

Use a backup battery with hidden wiring for an aftermarket alarm. A factory immobilizer is NOT enough, you also need an alarm that sounds if the doors/hood/trunk is opened...it's better than nothing. Getting an alarm that sounds when its level is changed (like when its being towed) is a good option as well.

Tinting the windows also helps with smash and grabs. Wheel locks are a deterrent to amateur thieves and a minor nuisance to pros. Turning the wheels all the way to one side and locking the steering wheel will also make the car harder to tow.

LoJack and GPS devices work too, but sometimes you don't want the car back after what it's been through. Install auxiliary lighting (motion/floodlight) around where the vehicle will be parked if its not in an enclosed garage. Get locking steering columns or reinforced steering column rings. Certain brake locks work okay too, provided it is installed properly.

Buy a stick...many newer car thieves can't drive it, haha.

The top three ways cars are most often stolen will surprise people though (you really have to be asking for it if you do these things):

1) Keys are in the car (many times in the ignition)
2) Doors are unlocked
3) Windows are down/sunroofs are open, even a little bit.

LOL. Last night I had a dream that my BRZ got stolen. I had just picked it up that afternoon and parked it at my apt and then went inside after pushing the lock button on the remote. When I came out later that evening, my car was gone... Then I had flashbacks during the dream (in the dream) of the doors being unlocked haha. Like, I could see the image of the doors being unlocked. Also, the trunk was wide open so someone could just pop in hahaha.

Who knows why I allowed this to happen hahaha. Bad dream!

Lesson: Get a 2way alarm system, with a hood pin, trunk pin, tilt sensor, proximity sensor, backup battery, and customize your sirens so that you know it's your car. The most important thing is the 2way alarm because you can see if your doors are locked/unlocked, or if your hood/trunk/doors have been opened. I'm sure there's another thread for security though, so leh go.
