Goddamnit I would buy the fuck out of a Mazda 6 wagon.

I was born in 1990.
I love wagons. Most people don't though.

I don't understand the point of the tc. I'd rather have an iM.

I don't care if it's a hamster and wheel under the hood, they've got the easiest folding rear seat system I've ever seen.

Fixed that fer ya. It would be better if their skyactiv diesel was a lil 2.0T like the VW was. Then slap on a nicer turbo and bam, perfect wagon.

I don't even care how fast it goes man, I just want affordable reliable utility that doesn't look like an abomination that was built in the last five years with some modern features, nobody makes that in North America, it's either a Jetta (VAG reliability? lol) or BMW/Merc ($$$, only marginally more reliable than the VAG).

Get me ANY good wagon, then we can talk about making it fast without breaking the bank.

At least we have a decent selection of hatches.

I love the new Mazda cars, they might be boring practical cars but they look so hawt. I get jealous of how good they look every time I drive past one. If I had kids to transport or something like that I would totally rock a Mazda 6 wagon or CX-5 or something.

I'm glad Hyundai/Kia and Mazda understand the value of an attractive looking car, the road has been filled with ugly cars for too many years.

Sorry, >$35k is out of my budget at the moment (maybe not in a year or two) and doesn't really qualify as 'affordable' in my mind considering the average price of a new car is ~$31k. They only just started selling the here so there's not much of a used market, add in that they are now Chinese owned and designed to only be serviced at the dealership (there's no dipstick) I'm a bit nervous about Volvo's near term reputation.

Interior wise they weren't a significant upgrade from the VW or a couple year old BMW and there's some expensive looking parts under the hood, including the craziest molded motor mount I've ever seen (looks like klingon bird of prey). I think I'd rather take the gamble on the Germans for less money.

I agree that the Koreans and Mazda are the best of the mass market cars today, it's a shame they're still loosing out to the big Japanese 3 and Ford when they're making arguably superior products.

I'm not sure how well the styling will go down in history though, it seems very much of THIS time, I think it will look dated before this decade is through, very much a post 00's attempt at making the now standard jelly bean shape (yay wind tunnels!) have some definition with some abstract corners and edges. I do like it very much, just not sure if it will have the impact in five years that it does today.

I mean, function over form. There are actually significant differences in the shapes of cars and their aero if you pay attention but most people say they "all look the same" for some reason.

As far as bodies go, I'm not a big fan of random sharp edges and creases thrown in for the hell of it but most of the time there's nothing too bad. The important part is the front and rear ends IMO, and Mazda completely nailed it with the kodo design. All the lamps are narrow which I think is aesthetically pleasing, and fit in with the rest of the car really well.

Parked next to say a beautiful Jaguar, IMO the Mazda cars hold their own aesthetically.

.
I fell into the difference in US vs Canadian price trap! Odd since I preach it all the time.
My FRS cost me $31K and was a bargain here so I was thinking $35 for an upscale wagon sounded good.
I have seen more of them than the twins around here so they must be selling .
