Anyone have EXPEL for their paint protection film, instead of the usual 3M? I can't really see a difference, but my friend claims Expel is better for White cars.
Can anyone confirm?

I have a 2013 Brz Sport tech, WRB......and I can't believe that In Feb, I will have had my car for 3years!! I have 40,000 km's on it.....taken it in for oil changes and had one condensate taillight repair, that's it. There is no "chirp" no matter what gas I use.....I average 8.3 L/100km.......there is some minor, small, pieces of the leather on the drivers side seat starting to come off (warranty???).....I have driven it every winter and have been VERY impressed with the handling and composure of the car (with winter tires on of course). The windshield is cracked, and there are some rock chips (even though I have 3M on the front), and one door ding from a parking lot I assume. I have done zero upgrades (mostly because I feel money is well spent in other things like vacations, building a garage etc) but I did paint my calipers red when I first got it, and touch up every summer when I do a tire change. I think the only thing I would like is an exhaust, just for a deeper note and a tad more throttle response (any suggestions??). I love my car, and besides a few (irrelevant) things I do not like, it has been my favorite car I have ever owned. I don't know how long I will own it, but I felt a 3 year anniversary deserved a little story and my love for this car.

Congrats! Looks awesome!
I've owned many cars in my lifetime (from MR2 to 300zx to AE86 to BMW, and a few in between), and the BRZ is the best driving car...ever. I love it!
There are a few minor grips I have, but I forget about those things as soon as I turn the car on. =)

Anyways, how the hell do you only have 40,000kms on it after 3 years of driving???

Oh, I just saw it again last night. Yeah, that car has an Alberta plate, but the newish ones, so I originally thought it was a BC plate.

I don't know why my Km's are that low!?!?!? I guess it may be that we will use my wifes car (2013 Ford Focus) to get grocieries, or anything that a hatchback comes in useful for! I drive it pretty much every day though, and I live in the NE and work downtown, so aprox 20min drive. I have only done one real road trip though....it was this summer, and I drove it from here all the way to Tofino BC. This was an absolute EPIC drive, and you don't truley appreciate how nice this car is until you take it on a long trip like that through the okanagan valley (high temps), then up/down the coquhalla highway (extreme elevation change), then into Vancouvr island and on the twisitiest, most scenic road I have ever driven! The car was flawless......heat....no issue.....mountain roads.....no issue (held speed at cruise with only a one or two km/hr drop on the steep stuff).......and the twisty's!! Oh man! If you can, do this drive!! You will not regret it, or forget it! Oh, and the gas milage was good too!! Bonus!

Just spent dough on a Raven Black FRS
Beginning on spending the moola I don't have for mods,
except I feel that Calgary's winter is around the corner,
and I don't plan on doing much winter driving with her.

Hello everyone ! So where is the best place in your opinion for servicing your car? I got mine from subaru calgary and lately sent them a list of issues with the car (2nd gear cold refusal, crunch at high rpm, ac rpm hunting etc) and they came back with a $125 transmission diagnostic and an appointment 2 weeks away ( was gonna store the car by that time).
Needless to say i find this a little appalling and would like to have good alternatives.
Thx for any pointers!

Would love to help you, but my car is barely at 1000kms, so it hasn't had any issues (yet). In the past, I've always avoided the $tealership, and went with an independent licensed mechanic.
If that's an option for you, then feel free to PM me, and I'll give you the details.

Subaru Calgary is shit. Get out of there. A couple years ago I tried to return some recalled oil filters to Subaru Calgary and it was such an ordeal that I will never go back there again for anything.

But anyways... my 2015 sure doesn't like to let me into 2nd gear when it's cold. I figured it was a break in thing. How old is your car?

I've bought a couple things from Centaur Subaru and Mark was really great to deal with.

I'm at 8000km in my 2014 and in the morning it can be a bit hard to get into 2nd but that seems to go away as soon as I let the car warm up a bit.

And on a final note I got my first speeding ticket in the mail today, just moved here a month ago and only thought it was traffic cameras that would get you, not photo radar.

Thx for the replies. Yeah these issues are quite common from what i read, but i wanted to have a go at them before i store it for the winter. Probably next yr ill do a fluid swap to amsoil/motul. Probably try FI.

My 2014 is also at 8k and i got it in april. Didn't really need to deal with sales ppl as i was paying cash. Email quotes and all i cared was the OTD number, one 15min visit, cheapest was sub calgary among all subaru and toyotas.

I dont remember if i got a reply back from Centaur or not.

The worst exp for me was south pointe. Stupid up selling and tried to really push a used toyota modded frs with mods i didn't care about and very very aggressive with all the dealer pressure tricks to get me to put a deposit that day itself without giving me a final #. Was annoyed for wasting my 1.5 hrs. Never go there again.

Yeah the police are super sneaky here. I have 3 tickets this yr itself.

Hey, just curious... how cold is cold? Like do you park outside and the overnight cold (which is maybe +2c these days), and 2nd gear is hard to get into in the morning?

Cuz, not sure how long you've been here, but the morning cold can be -30c or lower on some Winter days here. I'm just a little worried, cuz if it's hard to get into 2nd gear already, then how about when Winter really hits??
