My exhaust set up.
I need a cat and no cel to pass inspection so im going with a catted uel header from ft86speedfactory. Then i can put on a cat delete front pipe and overpipe! Out back i am going with the invidia n1. I hope its loud! The car is not my daily so i want it loud. Any suggested changes tho regarding my header or cat back?

What's your location? If you're in the US and you have a visual inspection as well, it's illegal to remove OEM cats at all. If it's just a tailpipe sniff test, a single cat can pass that. If it's an OBD2 test, a tune will pass that by disabling that CEL.
If you don't want to get a tune, get a catted header. FT-86SF, P&L, and JDL all make them. You'll be losing out on available power without a tune though. Personally, I would do an uncatted header and a high flow cat in the front pipe, then flash a stage 2 tune. An uncatted header with the Invidia N1 will be loud. |

It's my understanding that emissions testing looks at OBD2 readiness checks, not CELs, and a tune can not defeat this.

Yea im from PA so i have a visual test as well as i plug in test. I was told that a single cat on my car should be passed. A tune is a must to get good NA power so i will do that in the near future. So a catless header and a high flow catted front pipe is my best bet?

My point is that CEL code and readiness test are two separate things. You can turn off a CEL, you can't turn off readiness tests. OBD2 emissions testing checks readiness, not just CEL. A tune will not help you pass emissions.

I believe the Borla header has one of the more aggressive rumble sounds to it. The FT86Speedfactory catted UEL header (which I have) actually has a nice boxer rumble down low in the RPMs and smooths out at higher RPMS and has a more EL header sound to it.

There's no fix for a specific header. If you have a catless header, or even remove the cat from your stock header, a tune can disable the code (P0420).
I have a catless Tsudo UEL header and I had the CEL from it. I flashed a OFT tune and no more CEL. @phrosty I don't think a tune does anything to affect OBD2 readiness, it just disables whichever codes you tell it to. |

More of a "fix". Its not guaranteed to work but its worth a try i think. I was hoping someone else would have some experience with it. Then i should pass inspection with just a high flow catted front pipe
