Flashing a tune is like writing to a usb memory stick , if you want the stock tune back just flash the stock tune few minutes work . you can theotitly rewrite your ecu thousands of times.

this is ossible if you have the appropriate flashing device.

one thing that can stop you is some tuners lock their tunes so only they can write to the ecu.

OFT or Tactrix/ecuflash does not lock tunes

Ecutek or Brzedit tunes can be locked

If I get a turbo kit with the ecu tek kit and a stage 1 map, can i local tuner tune the car with the ecutek?

I'm wondering if ecutek is just like the cobb accessport where a tuner could just make map for the car easily.

Thanks!

I plan on getting EcuTek for now, but will be going turbo at the end of the year. I have a tuner available. Which option would I have to purchase?

The "do it yourself tune"? Or would I be able to get the stage one tune for now and then later on my tuner can tune from there? The do-it-yourself tune doesn't come with RaceROM, but reading the description for the stage one tune; it seems to have some of the options.

I'm just a little lost when it comes to this, any clarity would be greatly appreciated.

Do I see my boost pressure from Ecutek Pro Ecu program or do I need boost gauge for that?

My tuner asks me to keep my boost pressure 0,2-0,3 bar when accelerating for data logs so any advice for that?

Yes, MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) is the parameter to log. It should be there by default. Boost to 0.2/0.3 Bar is a MAP of 1.2/1.3 Bar

Do you have a non-stock MAP sensor installed?

I have 3 bar map sensor from fensport!

So it shows me reading like 0,2bar boost is 1,2bar on ecutek live data right?

Could someone explain the difference between MAP and MAF and how they each relate to engine management/tuning? Are aftermarket replacements required for forced induction setups?

MAF = Mass AirFlow
MAP = Manifold Absolute Pressure

You don't need a replacement MAF and MAP is only really required if going turbo. You can replace the MAP to get boost readings, but it's not a requirement to tuning.

So now that a bunch of time has passed and people have tested a lot of tuning products. Does the unichip help a stock FR-S without voiding the warranty?

Hi

Been with the OFT, ecutek and currently with stand alone system..., if you ask me the best combination (for the money) was the OFT with intake, not fast but fun as it could be.

UniChip is a piggyback ecu that needs a bit of wiring in as it needs power and conbection to various engine sensors. It works by "fooling" the standard ecu by altering the engine sensor inputs. Its quite limited in its adjustments compared to flash tuning the standard ecu.

If your conserned about warantee then your going to have to remove the unichipand wiring for every service. And its likely if they are rearly lookiung they will see where it was connected to cars wiring.

However they dont look for anything unless you have an engine issue.

Flash tuning like OFT ecutek brzedit works by re programming the stock ecu.

Many more adjustment and settings can be changed, it a much better system.

for basic mods the OFT will be your best option especially if you want to flash back to stock for dealer visits as you get tunes and device for $500

you could get an ecutek tune for about same money but you wont get the cable for that price to be able to flash roms yourself. also ecutek embeds licience info in ecu which can be detected even by ametures like myself.

Oft flashes back a 100% stock rom and is virtually undectable.
AFAIK no one has found or been nailed by dealer vie the existance of a flash counter

If your making hardware mods like headers then dealer will notice them straight away

see flashing reset learning link below
