Ever try to post a comment on Jalopnik?

So I always enjoy reading the comments on the articles I read on that site. I tjouhht, wow, these are some on topic discussions. No one deviated from the article and the tone is well...not like "normal" car forums.

So I tried posting a comment today. It said "pending approval". I refreshed the page and boom it was gone. Wtf is that crap all about? Those guys are some freaking jerk bags over there.

And I just responded with "proper" grammar and on topic so I don't get it.

Bastards.

Their comment system format doesn't follow any known form of logic.

The "grayed out" pending approval thing is until the authors subjectively deem you to be a trustworthy/worthwhile contributor, then you'll be "ungrayed" permanently. Your comment was still there, but it doesn't appear at the top of the list like a normal forum. The problem is their comment system is really, really confusing to follow.

Each new comment starts a discussion/thread in reply to the original post/article, but each discussion can spread and sprawl as each comment in that thread can be in response/reply to any other previous comment in that thread. The only way to follow it is to specifically look at each reply to see to whom the reply is responding to in that discussion. smh.

The grayed out thing has always been there, but they're even more strict about it now because the whole Kinja family of news blog sites has been plagued with rape porn gif posts. Some thought it was funny at first, but it was getting out of hand really fast from what I understand. So keep posting there and become one of the regulars and you'll be in the black soon.

I mostly stick to Oppositelock, but sometimes you can have a good discussion down on Jalopnik.

Though with how personally things get on Oppositelock lately i prefer to stay away.

Damn. After I thought my comment was deleted for good, I posted up another comment that will surely not be approved and probably ban me from posting again. I messed that one up lol.

I used to delve into the dark depths of the commenting section on Jalopnik occasionally. At some point I made a negative comment about old Volvos and they banned me for life.
