Find a dealer that's trying to off-load their 2012 models. The 2013 Mustangs have significant improvements buyers want (front fascia, increased hp, standard HIDs, etc.) so dealers might be willing to offload the old 2012s for a bargain.

Also, Ford is going to release an all-new Mustang for 2014, so if you wait, you can probably pick up a 2013 model for cheap around this time next year.

My problem with the Mustang - no telescoping steering wheel. I'm 6'5, 6'6 on a good day and the driving position was slightly awkward. Interestingly enough, the BRZ fit like a glove . Cracking car though.

And why would you buy a mustang in it last model yet in its current generation? Supposely the 2014 model will be lighter and may have a independent rear suspension. Come on all cars need to have that if they think they are somewhat of a performance car!

OMG a 2004 BMW? Out of warranty and almost 9 years old? Get out of here. But hey each their own. I am done with used cars. I want new.

I will admit the 2012 Mustang GT with the brembo package for $26K.

It's $34,285 for a 2013 Mustang GT with the GT track package in 6 speed manual, the best configuration for a 2013 Mutang GT. Way more expensive than a FR-S, almost $10k more.

Oh and there is a $500 rebate on the 2013 Mustang GT


On the 2012 Mustang GT, there is no way you will find one for $26k. Those are all gone if they ever existed. There is a $2750 discounts, so I could see you getting one in the upper 20K range if you are good negotiator.

MSRP on a 2012 Mustang GT w/ Brembo Pack is $32,200. If you can find a leftover on a dealer lot, you should be able to pick it up for $26-27k right now. The hard part is finding one.

On USAA's car buying service, they have a new 2012 Mustang GT w/ Brembos at $27,089.

Also, the interior is pretty nice in the new Mustangs, I'm not sure why you'd say it's rental car looking. Even without leather it's pretty nice. I think I like it better than the FR-S/BR-Z's...

I don't really think it's fair to compare the mustang with leather to the FR-S. Base Mustang GT vs BRZ Premium would be the two cars I would be shopping for and to my eyes the BRZ has a much nicer interior.

As far as material quality the 2012 Mustang has as much soft touch plastics as the BRZ(I sat in both at the AJC Auto Show). The only difference I see between both cars is whether you like a interior design from the 60's or the 90's.

My wife (the Mustang Fan in my family) hated the interior of the 2012 Mustang when she saw it at the AJC Auto show. Her biggest complaint? They changed the round HVAC vents from the 2005 to the shelf generic retangular ones. She said she would not buy the car for that one reason.

Though I agree it's probably worth the wait, the Mustang GT performs like a BMW M3 for half the money, proving that you really don't need IRS to be a performance car.

Aside from the steering wheel and shift knob, that Mustang looks like a rental car interior to me. Blocky and unimaginitive; typical American car interior. The factory Recaro seats are a nice option, though! I'd definitely have to get one with them.

Toyota GT86 Limited come w all leather option. Ford is made here so of course they can do all those options without bumping huge mark up. It goes same with Toyota, they're made in Japan, so they can do leather option with huge mark up

This will be the first Toyota I have owned, I have owned nothing but Japanese cars. I grew up with my dad owning a couple Cressida's, 1st gen supra, and my mom drives a rav 4 now. lol My brother drives a 400 HP STi, and my dad drives a 2011 WRX limited edition. The only non-Japanese car in the family was a 98 Volvo Low Pressure Turbo AWD wagon... god my family are a bunch of JDM snobs, lol!

I almost caved and looked for a used 240 or S2k, but couldnt find an unmolested example at a decent price. And the insurance on the S2000 would kill me.
