It works on the HSV-010 because that car has a flat crank v8, which means that the exhaust pulses coming out of each bank of cylinders is evenly spaced so there is no benefit, scavenging-wise, to connecting the two sides of the engine. A Subaru boxer engine is completely the opposite of this, each cylinder needs to be connected to the opposing cylinder for proper scavenging to occur.

The nearest equivalent on a suby motor would be to have the front cylinders feed one exhaust pipe, and the rears feed the other. But really, the main reason that the Honda sounds the way it does is that it has a flat crank v8 revving to 10000 rpm.

Has anyone suggested single side exit right behind the door like with the BRZ GT300? Leave the necessary CATs and just open it up to the side. Loose some weight, gain some noise, and looks cool?!?!

A side exhaust for this car, without any resonators or mufflers, besides being super loud, would just sound HORRIBLE.

Im not opposed to having a resonator or an exhaust I just think it looks clean out the side and would potentially save weight and costs to the exhaust. Im looking for a everyday driver so I certainly dont need a deafening exhaust note

And only anorexic chics or chics with bulemia are allowed to ride shot-gun

back seats will remain permanently in 'down position'

As for exhaust, single dual exit looks clean imo.

Personally, I am not a fan of dual exhaust but dual will be quieter with less drone . Singe will be much lighter louder and making more power. I used to have dual 2.5" exhaust on my s2k and it only made like 5hp but when I switched to single I gained a lot more !

IMO, I think the car has dual exhaust cut out so it may look better with dual.

Here's the pic of my old car !
