The guy last night saved my bacon several times. I was having a bad night, it was the one where you have to fight both the Vex and the Fallen and at the end that Fallen dude pops out of the big metal egg. I ended up down in the pit a few times, not where you want to be.

Thanks for the info, I wish I had started the Defender sub-class awhile ago. I can see where the shield would be of use in the strikes when you're getting that bum rush of minions.
Archon Priest. Fucking motherfucker. Attempted the nightfall last night. Wiped by a single hobgoblin at the end that none of us saw and he sniped us all. Second time we got to the end and it said open the pod. So one guy goes down and we're finding cover. He doesn't touch anything, the pod opens up on its own, and archon ruins him. Shanks come up behind the other two of us and killed us. We were pissed so we went to do iron banner instead.

WTF is it with people dropping out right at the beggining? It seems like everytime I do something where you get paired with 2 other Guardians, one drops out right at the start everytime. Maybe their spider sense just tingles about my incompetence?

I have to admit that I enjoyed Iron Banner more than I thought I would. Had my best PvP match since playing Destiny. Some of those guys hit hard, I know somethings are "leveled" but I'll get a couple hits on someone and BAM one hit on me and I go down.

So a couple questions. I've maxed out my Titan Striker sub-class, haven't started working on the Defender sub-class. What's the advantage, if any, to working on the sub-classes? I equipped it for about 2 minutes last night and then realized I didn't even have grenades so it seemed like taking a step backwards. I'm sure there has to be some reason to work on it right? Does it help with your light level?

Also, what's the best way to get ascendant shards and strange coins? I know a few missions state that you can get strange coins as a reward, I still haven't figured out how the ascendant shards actually drop. Where are you all learning this stuff? Trial and error, going to Bungies website, word of mouth, etc? I got an ascendant shard as a reward last night for getting three gold stars on a public event, so obviously that is one way you can get them.
I was wondering the same, and came to conclusion that people would rather do the easy strikes.

What pisses me off is when someone I am finally paired with 2 people towards the end of the boss fight, and end up getting a multi tool or other exotic items.

You guys can hide under the platform at the top It's cheap or a cop out, yes, but it also helped me solo it at lvl 28

LOL, yeah this was my second attempt at it. The first time it was just me and another guy...again. We never even got to the Archon Priest part because that dude bailed about halfway into it. So I really didn't know what to expect. The guy last night knew what he was doing. When things quieted down after the first big fight, I saw him go over to the pod and deploy his ghost. He immediately ran up the hill you first come down and took cover so I followed him. Unfortunately you can't stay there forever as the Priest will bum rush you up the hill. The key is not to get stuck down in the pit, which I did like 5 times as I got swarmed from all sides. Somehow that dude was able to jump down and revive me and get out before he got whacked. He was a solid player and knew how to be a good team player.

One other thing I've learned, don't all die at the same time or you get reset. Having three people would be nice cause one could kind of hang back as an overwatch and make sure he doesn't die when the going gets tough.

Wait, what platform? Way up at the top of the hill you first come down?

I did it solo fairly easily.
Once he comes out, just run back to the path you originally came from to enter the area (the little cliff drop down) and he typically doesn't go right there. So you can kill the little guys from there and jump down and take a few shots at the boss and run and jump back up to the cliff.

You know when something starts opening by itself in Destiny it isn't going to be good.

I guess I wasn't going far enough up the hill cause he kept charging up the hill everytime I went up there. I'd have to jump down into the pit (bad choice as I got caught down there a bunch) and then try and work my way back to the top after he came back down.

What do you normally get from the nightfall strike? Is it much better than the lvl28 heroic?

Heroic weekly you get coins. Nightfall you get legendaries and sometimes exotics.

I also solo'ed it on lvl 28, but I used the small ledge on the left rock face above that spot. There's a little rock pillar that offers protection if you're ducked.
