Just to give you an idea.

I have FT86Speedfactory's catted UEL header and a Motiv catted front pipe. Everything else is stock.

Wow love it. I would definitely get it, just worried about any problems people have experienced since I don't want to worry about warranty.

no CEL or any problems at all? i also looked at this header and wonder what it sounds like without catback or anything just stock because the header is all i want to add. could i expect a difference with the header on all stock?

All of this talk brings up an interesting point to me. I know a lot of people on here don't like the domestic "performance" cars like Mustang and Camaro, but why aren't the import car companies better about catering to the aftermarket crowd?

As an example, Ford Racing offers a ton of "aftermarket" performance parts for their Mustangs and GT500s etc. Heck, you can even get a tuner with a tune from Ford Racing and it will up your power and as long as it is "installed" by an authorized dealer it's covered under warranty. Look at the new Mustang they just realesed, there's already a Supercharger available from Ford Racing and if installed by an authorized dealer you get over 600 hp that's still covered under factory warranty. The only "drawback" is that it all has to be done through an "authorized" dealer, which means you have to pay their hourly billing rates, but for the person who wants to add performance to their stock car while not jeopardizing their warranty this seems like the perfect win/win. The customer gets what they want and the car company gets "extra" profit.

When I owned my GT500, I never had to sweat anything that had been done to my car because my dealership was the one who was doing the "modding" and they also knew my car intimately since they were the ones working on it. Of course, I wasn't going over board like some people who were building 1,000 hp cars so maybe I was content with a measly CAI, axleback exhaust and tune (you could get the TVS supercharger though with a 650 hp tune and it was under warranty, I just never spent the money).

Also, all the Ford Racing stuff was 50 state legal unless specifically labeled otherwise.

The header on this car is extremely easy to get on and off so if you ever did need to bring it in for warranty work you can just pop the stock one back on.

I actually did have a CEL pop up about after 2500 miles and I believe it's due to a bad O2 sensor. I bought a new one about a month or so ago and have honestly just been too lazy to get under the car and put it in. If you look through FT86SpeedFactorys thread for their catted UEL header, there has only been about 3 or 4 people that have had CEL issues and I believe they were all resolved.

Other then the header and front pipe my whole exhaust system is stock. I put my front pipe on before I got my header and heard no difference in the way my exhaust sounded. So I think it would be safe to say it would sound pretty much like mine does. My Motiv front pipe is catted so it isn't much different then the stock one other then the lack of that small resonator the stock one has on it.

I don't know this is your first car to have modded but i've seen this kind of post x9999999 all cars forum. if you worry about your warranty much, i suggest you just leave with stock. or swap back to stock when you need to do have inspection.

for CEL, get CEL elimnator (o2 sensor adapter) CEL will not likely on but it's not 100% guaranteed. (it goes on and off)

If i am you, i would just get open flash tablet instead of header and try E85 gas

How hard is it to swap? I think I'll do this header and incase anything happens, I'll just put the stock one back on.

if you search DIY secton, you could find installation.

this car is one of easiest car to work on header installation in my life.

after removing panels that has many bolts+nuts, only 4 bolts to remove header + removing 2 bolts from header to overpipe connection.

i don't see the point of getting a header without getting a tune, even a catted one as you're either going to run super rich and lose power, or worse run too lean and risk damaging your engine.

If you're really just doing it for sound, then just get a catback and front pipe and call it good. dealers shouldn't give you crap for that and so long as you get a catted front pipe you should pass cali smog. (don't quote me however as i dont' live in that smognazistate)

Alot of people tell me when taking car in for somewhat of a major problem dealer will check ecu and tunes will show up ive heard of flash counters of some sort. so that alone is a guaranteed void warranty if they find out you tuned it, header is not too much an issue it's just the tune.
