Well since the gearbox was designed to add an extra upshift to get to 60mph, probably not. I recommend everyone sell their 86s immediately. Btw, the only way the Corvette gets under 3 secs, is with the 8 speed auto.

@civic I would probably refrain from celebrating any GM warranty promises at this point in history.....

Thanks for the update. That should help but still going to tough rowing your own boat to get under 3 secs.

Isn't that like splitting imaginary hairs?

The Fullblown car is deep into the 10's at 140 mph. That's 13 mph faster than the new Z06 in the 1/4 mile. It's definitely the faster car, at least in a straight line.

Pretty sure the trailer that brought the car to the track was on street tires.

- A board member (Dipstik) did 11.1 @ 129 mph.

It's just a matter of time before someone breaks into the 9's.
I'm sure there is several other 86s out there that run mid-sub 10s or even 9s out there but they do not bother posting here. lol As far as FullBlown's recent timeslips, what is up with the odd mphs? 116 vs 140? Wouldn't it be consistent in the high 130s to low 140s?

Yeah you're right about other members being in the 10's. I forgot there was another guy (Georgie) who ran a 10.8s @ 128mph with a built engine, meth, and FB turbo. And there's probably more as you said who don't post here.

FB mentioned that they ran the 116 mph pass letting off due to traction issues, but they still managed a 10.3 second pass. That's crazy if you think about it. Even the 140 mph pass was at partial throttle. If they can find some traction, that car is 9-second capable without any more power.

BTW before anyone gets more butthurt about me bringing up Twins that are faster in a straight line than the new Z06, note that I'm not saying:

1) these cars are better than the new Z06,
2) these cars will be as reliable as the new Z06,
3) these cars are as fast as the new Z06 on street tires in the 1/4 mi, or
4) these cars can match the new Z06 on a track.

If you try to read any of those statements into my post, you deserve the butthurt you feel. This was the original question:

That's the only question I was answering with that post. Yes, it's been done many times.

In a nutshell, why would you? Youre gonna spend so much money doing it and its just going to grenade sooner or later. Im leaning towards sooner. Much much sooner.
