Funny you say that! After they left me the other day I was still paranoid so sat in the drive way listening. Could hear just a slight irregular chirping. Thought "ah shit" back again but not as bad at least. Turned the car off, got out and heard a pile of REAL crickets!!!!! Started car again, popped hood and listened NO fake crickets!

Toyota DLR swapped out my HPFP via a TSB to stop the crickets.

Came back in 300 miles, lol.

I wish they wouldn't have bothered, honestly. It just costs money that does no good to anybody. It's small change for them on my car, but in the big picture, it's things like this that inflate car prices.

Yup. I had terrible crickets on Citgo, Shell, Mobil etc and when I switched to Sunoco they are gone.

Here is mine,

Its just under 3000 km and I ALWAYS fill it with Shell V-Power Gold. Followed factory breakin procedures...

Also, it seems this only happens if the engine is warmed up... Atleast for me that when it chirps.

On a side note, does anybody else have a wierd buzzing noise when in gear but coming down from 6k rpm to around 4k rpm?

I don't know...sounds like the normal BRZ/FRS engine noise, including the crickets in the back ground!

sup guys I havent had time to jump on the forums for awhile and last time I was here people were using the lucas oil after fill ups to solve the problem. Is there something new we are using that is better? Or is there a resolution? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like DI seals issue to me.

I use 3oz of Lucas UCL with each tank of gas. Usually I have no crickets, engine runs smoother, and is noticeably quieter. There are however days where the crickets can be slightly heard. Depends on weather and gas I use, but definitely worth the ~$1 per tank it costs.

I'm not sure the misfire on cold start is related to DI seal troubles because the power is extremely smooth everywhere else in the rev band. Only time the idle moves around is at idle at first start up.
