I love how it's 2.95 seconds, not just 2.9.

I'm a Z06 fanboy. Always have been. Probably has something to due with the fact that my father worked for GM.

650HP for the LT4 in it but I read in Motortrend last month that a factory engineer said that the engine can put out 1000HP with a factory tune and stock internals when they do the C7 ZR1. They just cannot get the 1000HP to the ground with street tires and RWD.

That sounds like a recipe for the production vehicle land speed record considering it would clock in a good 800 lbs. lighter than the Veyron and with a more aggressive less luxury oriented design I'd assume better aero possibilities...

Even if they do highly customized body work and go OCD on the engine builds (which Nissan does in a car under 6 figures) that'd be a record breaking car for a couple hundred thousand dollars max, GM could practically charge whatever they wanted.

Edit: Factory sledgehammer

Weight doesn't matter for land speed record and luxury and aero don't really affect each other, but yea 1000hp is probably enough to set some records. Supposedly the McLaren P1 can do 250mph with the right tires, and it has "only" ~900hp. All depends on getting the aero right, which is hard at those kinds of speeds.

Bugatti Frontal Area: 22.3 sq. ft.

C7 Corvette Frontal Area: 20.0 sq. ft.

Comment being the Bugatti sacrificed potential speed to accommodate a luxury buyer, Chevy hasn't, they have the capability of taking the crown in this imaginary game we're playing.

And weight definitely matters to reach those targets, one of the limitations of the Veyron was that it only has enough fuel to reach that speed and maintain it for 12 minutes and the tires are roasted at 15 minutes of top speed. Those engineering demands are lessened by a lighter architecture, GM will be able to achieve those targets without spending a million+ per unit if they decide to try.

To further my point, the Mclaren P1 you use as an example weighs less than the standard C7 Corvette at 3,070 lbs. to 3,250.

I could've sworn the Veyron was an exceptionally wide car, maybe for handling reasons?

The tires thing could be a big deal I suppose, a lighter car would be easier to spec tires for that won't be shredded too quickly. Never thought of that one.

Anyhow, I think it's safe to say the Corvette probably can have better aero than the Veyron and so how fast it can go will depend on how much money they want to spend on the tires and how they want to gear it.

It has enough power, just leave it in 4th no need to shift and still faster than most cars

Since all reports and publications say that chevy isn't even considering a c7 zr1

If they were to round it to just one decimal place they'd have to claim 3 seconds. This way they can claim sub-3.

LOL what a load of crap. Enduro ready on street tires, huh? Enduro ready without a cage, fire supression, etc., huh? Riiiight.
Well, I guess that means they know their target market with marketing like that.
Oh, and I was at the local track a couple months ago with a one-week old, unmodified C7. The owner had never driven on a track, so clearly he wasn't pushing the car very hard. After the first session he pulled into the pits and it was pissing coolant everywhere. LOL. Nice work, GM. Nice work.
