While I understand where you're coming from, and the premise of what you want to do... You're basically going to buy another BRZ/FRS for the amount of money you're going to spend to make this happen. If you're fine with that, proceed and please do a build thread so we can see your progress. If your pockets aren't as deep to buy another car, just to make this car faster, then stick to the kits that already exist.

Honestly, what do you need more than 350whp for? You can't use it on the street, and the only beneficial place for it is on a track, which you will be abusing the motor, which no matter what motor you have on it, will cause wear and tear.

Buy a 240 and SR swap that....both the 240 and the swap will be cheaper than swapping an sr into the FRS

You're completely right, and that's why I hate to throw even one more argument out there :P

It's not that I need more than 350whp, it's that the power to price ratio seems to be so much higher than that of other engines. I don't think that I would be putting $20k into an sr swap. While I don't have any experience in swapping engines, I am fully confident that it could be done for less than $10k, if not less than $6k (since the engine and trans is only $2500).

You're 100% correct that 350whp on a car that, while I don't daily it I do drive it quite a bit, would be more than enough. However, am I willing to put $6k into a kit that will get it there only to find out that I will probably need a built motor to go any higher should I desire to in the future? I really don't know. I suppose there is always the option of putting my own "kit" together piece by piece, that would surely be much cheaper.

They're always good until the day they blow up, which is typically FAR before when they would normally fail. When/if you start seeing engines with tons of power last 5-10 years of daily driving then you can say it can "handle it"

No idea, you'd have to talk to them. My point was that if you trash your block at 400 hp, the hp wasn't the problem. Also, there are several people around here that have complete FBM builds, to include the block. They're pushing in excess of 400 hp on daily driven cars.

I had an SR in my old S13 back then. Had 2 of them (the first one blew a rod through the case). It was fun and decently fast for back then.

But isn't it basically the same Hp as a stock FRS (200bhp)? FRS is NA too no less

..put a simple FI kit on the stock FA, and it'll make far more power than a stock SR. Or, just keep the FA stock, and it'll still have the same Hp and be better than a turbo SR, since it's 200bhp NA.

Replacing a modern engine that gets 100hp/liter NA with an engine that makes the same power but requires a turbo... Not to mention the SR is considered a weak motor by anyone that knows about motors and this thread is just full on facepalm...
