Perrin intake tube "worth it"?

I've searched and read enough to know that the stock air box is pretty damn efficient at what it does, enough that cai are almost pointless(for the money),saying that I've been thinking the Perrin intake tube and drop in filter would suffice but was wandering if the tube is worth the money for improving anything or are they just a fancy way to remove the sound tube?

I'm going to say no. The 5-6(maybe) HP that might give you at the very top of the RPM range is something you'll never realistically notice 99.9% of the time. I'm sure others will chime in claiming they could feel a difference, or it "improved throttle response", they have butt dynos that are more sensitive due to their lightened wallets... (:

Bingo. I did it just because, but you do not have to.

I still haven't removed my sound tube due to people saying it makes road and wind noise more noticeable and nearly unbearable to some.

I just installed my perrin tube and drop in filter the other day. I noticed a little deeper sound from the engine and there really is some improvement in the throttle response. I am very happy with the purchase.

$100 for an intake tube is well worth proper removal of the sound tube. The only noticeable post-install difference is a deeper (less-hollow) engine sound, due to the removal of the sound tube. Clearly, road and wind noise are unchanged.

Huh? How can removing the sound tube increase road and wind noise?

5hp is achievable with an intake tube and high-flow filter, it's been dyno'd:

The Perrin Intake inlet is the best one IMO. Then you can get one from Zeek or Sard that are carbon fiber also. The gains are mostly from a drop in filter when your looking at dynos with those gains.

A drop In filter, inlet tube and if you have money get the snorkels like from Zeek, HKS, Prova, Kansai is prolly my favorite design,.

The inlet will make your engine bay look cleaner and add a little bit of power but nothing youll notice too much. 1-2 whp with just the inlet and 5-7 with a drop in/inlet.

You quoted right but read wrong.. I said it made it more noticeable not increased it, there is a difference

Well I think cheapest I've found it for is like 120, so I think I might order it and either k&n or Perrin filter, I guess it won't hurt to see huh

You are moving the goal posts. I thought we were talking about intake tube, not intake tube and filter.

Definitely worth it. Improved my throttle response and got rid of the sound tube that sprawls across the engine bay.
