Check out your municipality's website under garbage/recycling. They will have details on how to get rid of all auto fluids and even oil filters. It is a free service in the few places I have lived in Ontario. No hassle and very quick.

Canadian Tire will take the oil if you ask the service department nicely but the ones I have visited do not offer it as an actual service. Please don't leave used fluids at CT/Walmart etc. in the middle of the night.

Typically I would suggest Lake Superior as you would not be the only one doing it.

I'm with DM7 on checking out your municipality's website. For example, this is where I go in Brampton: https://www.peelregion.ca/pw/waste/crc/brampton-crc.htm

i've dropped off old oil at my local jiffy lube several times, and they've always been happy to take it.

Call up a local shop and see if they will take it with their waste oil. Usually they do not have a problem with it.
