I'm tempted to get those Taiwan SSI headers, I'm just worried about terrible fitment.

They look similar, but they do have their differences as you can see. The flanges are different thicknesses and the piping thickness is different as well. 12mm flanges front and rear for Tomei and 12mm front and 10mm rear for SSI. Pipe thickness is 1.5mm for Tomei (same as stock) and SSI has a thickness of 1.8mm. Other than that, they seem very similar. Runner diameter is the same (42.7mm) as well as the collector (60.3mm SSI and 60.5mm Tomei).

I think I might just go for it. The guy I've been speaking with who sells them says they've never had any issues with fitment. They also come with 1 year warranty. |

You'll have to let us know how everything turns out! It comes with the overpipe too which is awesome. Any info on pricing?

Oh damn that's super cheap! Even compared to a cheap, crappy header from Borla and an overpipe, you're looking at ~$700-$800. What grade of stainless is it? It doesn't say on their website

I would be wary in the sense that they might look very very similar if you notice small things they're actually quite different one of the biggest is the design of the longer runners is different which makes me think the other headers (non-tomei) are copies just like other people have copied the borla etc. Also I'm fairly sure that Tomei is full JDM

The issue with cheap Taiwanese headers are that they can be hit or miss. Some people will praise them because their unit was problem free, whereas others may not have similar luck. You also need to ask about the details of the warranty they provide. Some can be quick to point the blame at installer. Also, unless you're installing them yourself, you will have to pay someone to remove the faulty header, and then again to refit the replacement header when they send you another unit. By the way $400 with overpipe is a very good deal in comparison to what PSR is selling them for. Are you sure you're not mixing this up with the Empire header? |
