Anyways, there are a few places that sell the G1W-C, word is some companies are selling knockoffs of these Chinese cams. Right?

I bought the cam from the same vendor that sold me a previous cam, "eStore" or something. Amazon even has these, and I want to say SpyTech (also has a hardwire kit). There a couple variants of the G1W, get the G1W-C model as the "C" denotes a built-in capacitor. Long description short, it's better and newer

its ok to be a bit bumped out / mad cos its a close call... and ur car is so clean... if it was me, i'll prolly be the same (i just mute the entire video)

I used to never use the horn until almost got ran over in the BRZ (when its like 2 weeks old). So i learned that if i dun honk, they prolly dun even know i exist on their blind spot -.- scary stuff watching them slowly invade ur car's "personal space"

time to get a dash cam...

What setup do you have? I'm guessing it auto turns on when it senses movement? I want something like that!

I wish I had a photo of the event when CHP was driving slow on the right most lane with emergency light on... switched lane... and the view was epic:

It is a Blackvue DR400G-HG-II

It is always recording when it is plugged in. But it has a motion censor that only saves footage when it notices movement or a g sensor that can pick up on vibration and will save the recording.

you can adjust all the sensitivities.

It has some sort of gps map ability, but I don't use it.

It has a couple of problems though.
It can be taxing on the car battery if left sitting for over a day.
And the lens can fog up if you leave it baking in the sun for too long.

(requires you to disassemble it to clean inner lens.)

Other than that I like it.

Having sports cars people like to break check us.
It may come down to a dash cam to prove what happened.
Because in a sports car VS a shit box, cops tend to believe the person in the sports car was speeding or driving like an ass.

I have one in my Celica, my girlfriend in her FRS and my dad in his 370Z.

It only takes on crash that is wrongfully blamed on me to pay for all the cams.

Ordered this guy last week and just received/installed! It was only $200 last week so I got the Squaretrade warranty with it. Total for me with warranty was ~$235. Looks pretty good so far with only testing at night. Good price for a front and rear cam, reputable brand, automatically clears its memory, wifi to your phone so you can save instantly/get live feed(within wifi range), automatic event recording saves, ability to instantly turn on/off voice recording and adjustable g sensor.

You should get the hardwire kit, so you can take advantage of the parking mode recording.

Something like this:
[ame="http://www.amazon.com/Blackvue-Power-Magic-Pro-Prevention/dp/B008B8ERIO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1411631177&sr=8-1&keywords=power+magic+pro"]Amazon.com : Blackvue Power Magic Pro Vehicle Battery Discharge Prevention for Parking Mode : Vehicle Power Inverters : Car Electronics[/ame]

There's a very nice DIY in this forum on how to install the hardwire kit.

I may have to add some... I've been using a gopro hero3 on my harness bar for other things but realized it made a good dash(sort of?) cam - 9 hours of 1080p and has WiFi transfer and can be phone viewed/controlled - cost me $160. Great little cam. Great battery life too.
