You don't have to go every year then, it's 4 years for a new car. And that time still counts. This is also the same for when you lower the car and go to technical inspection.
You get a official paper stating that the parts are ok (or not ok) but the real inspection happens after 4 years of ownership.
But for an exhaust I just would wait until the first time.
If it isn't obnoxious loud the cops don't care about it.

Pff technical inspection is such bullshit. They'D better focus on motorcycles. Nearly every single one has a ridiculously obnoxious exhaust.

i ain't even getting started on mods we do to enhance the overall performance of the car for the better like better brakes, wider wheels etc etc.

Compared to countries like Muricaaaaa it feels like we are allowed to modify squat unless we have some sort of paperwork which took us way too much time and effort to get in the first place....bureaucracy anyone?

I indeed have an official "tuning"-document that i have to show at the technical inspection in a couple of years So they can't do sh*t to me! No one is pulling me over for my exhaust and if they do you can show them the document, i think that will come in handy one day.

Anyway, is it true we have to make an appointment for our first technical inspection if the car is modified? I'm ordering some KW V1's soon, will that cause any problems or if i have the "plaatsingsattest" from the garage who installed it and did the alignment, will i be ok?

Oh, and for latest installed gadgets i finally got my MTEC shift springs installed in combo with a 700 grams Anarchy Motive shift knob! LOVE the shifting now

Grtz

Well well well,
learn't already 2 things at least ...
1) are we picky on motorbikes here ??? I love those things as well !!! Hence I've got a couple of them. One isn't really "silent", and the other has a ... euhh... "characterful sound" (Push it hard in the dark and then you see blue flames popping out as an extra light show. You can't believe how much space that creates when you're driving through a traffic jam :-) )

2) fancy word 'obnoxious', 'cause my loud one isn't disgusting to my ears
(but it's not as ridiculous as some Harleys virtually without anything inside the so called dampers/mufflers are

But honestly speaking, without the technical inspection, wouldn't we virtually all go for rather loud exhausts on our 86's ? I would !!!!

Don't get me wrong, i love bikes aswell and love the howling sound some of them make when going full throttle, the 'freedom' you have on two wheels etc. It's just their behaviour in traffic in general that bothers me...and the ones whose exhausts make my windows tremble
This being said, there is always one biker that sticks his thumb up every single time he passes my on my daily commute to work

If there wouldn't be so much restrictions here in BE, I'd go forced induction and bbk instantly...after that a loud(er) exhaust would make more sense to me....gotta be able to walk the walk if you're gonna talk the talk

There's a difference between sounding loud and obnoxious loud, the first one is sounding nice with alot of decibels, the other one is a diesel tractor with a drainpipe as an exhaust that you hear from miles away while sounding very raspy and droning like hell and every glass window is shaking in fear when it's passing by.

You need indeed those papers, GOCA attest and paper of allignment. Then you have to go to the 'keuring' for a 'Keuring voor verlaagd voertuig' (official name is 'keuring voor voertuig na ongeval') so they can check the numbers, the allignment and the height (the so called 'balkske'). Official height needs to be 11cm but you got a tollerance to go as low as 9.3cm.

Don't know about the TRD springs but I thought they were rebranded Eibach Sportline springs.
But everything is avaible through import ;-)

Yeah i know but you should be able to keep warranty with the TRD springs not so much with the Eibachs (even if they are the same)

If i remember correctly the TRD springs are not equal to the Eibach Sportlines but rather to the Eibach Pro-Kit (which is a little less low then the sportlines).
I'm not to sure you will be able to keep warranty on the stock shocks since you're basically "overcharging" them, causing them to possibly break faster (certainly on our crappy roads). A toyota dealer could easily tell you the answer though

I think in the case you just want springs and you're happy with the fixed lowering you could combine the springs with some Koni shocks or something

the trd springs being from toyota themselves should keep warranty but yeah i should check because I'm no sure and the 1inch drops is enough for me and increased handling without alot of hassle

Hi guys.
Not sure the TRD springs are 'just' rebranded Eibachs.
The 'real McCoy' TRD suspension is a hefty well over 2000€ adjustable racing damper set ( and you need to add a 400€ for the required pillowballs as they don't go on rubber mounts).

There's a 'sportivo' series which is less expensive ...

But ... in Germany you can get at the dealer the GT86 lowered by Bilstein B14 shocks (1065€). Those are sold as 'sporty' dampers for all year round driving. They drop the car 40/40 (front/rear). Eibachs -spring only- are also in the catalogue and drop 25/20 (189€).

yeah i just want the trd springs qnd probably the sway bar set :p it's a nice and cheap increase in handling with a slight dropt which is enough here because of our crap roads and since my front bumper hits shit already sometimes... i just hope because they are toyota springs you wont lose warranty.. not just for the shocks but since the gt86 have supposedly weak axles and when lowered they tend to go kaput :p
