LS 1 swap in my mustache man BRZ

Hello all!!!

I would like some help on what will be needed to LS 1 swap the BRZ. I bought a trans am with an LS 1 and I need to figure out what else on top of what the trans am has, will I need. I only want to hear from those BRZ/FRS guys that have swapped their motor. Everyone else can hold back on their negative comments. For those that are asking why??? You already know the answer, BECAuSE RACE CAR!!! This would be my first motor swap. So with what ever feedback I get from here I will also be doing my own research. I'm pretty tech savvy so I'm comfortable taking my time with my build, but it never hurts to ask for help from my fellow brothers. If you would like to help your more then welcome Hahahaha. The more the better.

To add I will be selling whatever comes off the BRZ and the Trans to help pay for the build. BRZ has only a little over 900 miles so the motor should bring some fair cash.

So, you bought a donor car before even figuring out what was involved in an engine swap?

Yes. I said that in the post! That's why I'm asking for help.

LS 1 swap in my mustache man BRZ

Long story short, so this chic turned into my sti and wreaked it. So with the money I got from parting out the sti that I built and from insurance, I'm swapping. My cousin gave me an offer I couldn't refuse on his trans am.

Thanks. I know the "search" is an awesome feature but, sometime it's easier to get the help straight on.

So you're turning one wrecked car into two shells and a used engine swapped new car? I've seen used LS swaps into older cars, and I've seen new LS swaps in to new cars, but a used LS into a new BRZ? That engine was putting out 275-325hp depending on the year new, so probably 225-275hp now that it's 15 years old?

Who's buying the FA20 engine?

You realize you're taking away value from the BRZ, right? If some chick turns in to the BRZ, you won't get much from insurance either.

What's wrong with just driving the BRZ and TA? Or sell TA to put towards new 400hp LSx engine.

The only concern I'd have with this is regarding what ashtray mentioned. It's a shame you have to put a used LS1 engine into the new BRZ, unless it's like under 30k miles on the engine?

I would absolutely LOVE to see an LS swapped BRZ, sounds like a sick plan. I had an LS1 z28 and loved the engine, so having that powertrain in a lightweight and awesome handling car like the BRZ would be epic, putting aside that awesome soundtrack!

People shouldn't be asking WHY you want to do this. it's your car, your dreams. go do it!

Ok so let's go over this long list of explanations that I really don't need to give because everyone got off topic. My question was how to, not why or should I. . It's a 99 Trans Am the motor was rebuilt at 160,000 miles and now has 220,000 miles on the odometer so that's only 60k on the rebuilt motor. If I go turbocharged ill have to worry about blow by and oil starvation. If I go supercharged, it only like a 85 to 100hp both costing anywhere from $6500-$7500 when it's all said and done. If I do the LS one swap, it'll be about the same but at least I'll get some money back with the selling all the other stuff like the BRZ motor and the Trans Am body. Not to mention I won't need to upgrade anything because the motor already puts out let say 300 with room for improvement. So again, I'm asking if someone on here has done this I would appreciate some positive input.

And no I won't be doing internal on the FA if I keep it. That's just adding more money to a already costly turbo/supercharge setup

I know you're not asking when\why\how\if - But this is a stupid idea. A rebuilt motor is just that. Rebuilt. It still has 220k on it. You're tearing apart a brand new car to shove a 200k+ mile engine in it. Sell the FA20 engine and buy an LS6 out of a Corvette/GTO with lower miles. Hell, just buy a Corvette.
