The ID10T light is for people without a clue who would ruin them completely without it. I use my selection of high pressure bicycle pumps to keep all my tires inflated to my preferences. Not hard to do once in a while, and it's free season specific air. For those without access to the correct phlogiston mixtures: http://kalecoauto.com

Why do you use high pressure bicycle pumps? It's really not that efficient..the volume of a bicycle tire is fractions of a car tire. You'll have popeye arms by the time you are done. Get a little compressor and adjust it to your desired pressure. In any case, I still just do a walk around weekly and check about a month or two my tire pressures and I lose about 2 to 3 psi if that on my tires all around. More power to you for checking more often...as I said before.. it's not bad to be more cautious and check... but if you get gas every week to check the tires every time...it's a bit much for me. Also I noticed that every time you check...a little bit of air goes out so then you have to fill up the tires more often. So if you check every gas fill up...say once a week, I think in about a month or so...you'll lose about that 0.5 to 1 psi per tire. I say that much because I also double check readings on my tire pressure reading...so first time you insert the gauge and remove some air will go out of the valve. Do it twice and then do it 4 times a month...it adds up. Then it's more work to break out the compressor or/and fill up all 4 tires. P.s. I use a nice analog truck guage that has 0 to 60 PSI...so it's very accurate. |

Putting 35psi in a high volume tyre will just give your arms some tone as well as getting a great cardio work out due to the number of repetitions ![]() I much prefer a my stirrup pump because each stroke is about 0.1psi. This makes it nice & easy to get the right pressure in my tyre first time . |

Just wondering why nobody has mentioned filling the tires with nitrogen. The dealership offered it to me at the beginning of winter, last year, and I never had any tpms lights come on even when it snowed.

As far as nitrogen, there is some benefit to it, but I stick with the standard 78% Nitrogen mix I've been using since the dawn of time. I don't see any real reason to pay the premium for the remaining 22%.

The bottle costs around $50 per year to rent, and the more or less annual nitrogen refills are also around $50. One of the best things about the system is the high pressure in the bottle - truck tires are my largest capacity fills, and they fill really fast with the pressure set at 150 psi. The fact that it's nitrogen is useful mostly for the race tire fills. Nothing that I have has TPMS anymore so that doesn't come into play. |

Every time i fill up fossil fuel , i check tyre pressures and look for nails/screws in the tyres.
I do this with four cars in an effort to avoid punctures. |
