There is ALWAYS a chance of being caught by cops. However, I have never been stopped on Rt 13 between Cazenovia and Chittenango. Its a little dicey getting there because you have to drive through some very enforced towns but the twisties happen to be between the two districts and they rarely drive it.

13 Curves is almost always patrolled but also a fun place to go.

I suggest a track day at Watkins Glen or the New York Safety Track. Then there is NO WAY you can get pulled over.

I've never been to Watkins Glen or the New York Safety Track, but def. sounds like fun. The only racing I've ever done was go-karts. I used to speed a lot with my old Camry (resulted in a only 1 speeding ticket), but with a red FRS, it's much riskier, so I don't do it so often. Can't afford a another ticket for insurance sake. The FRS is my DD, so I step on it going on and off highways, and turns of course.

Hey, i bought my hot lava '13 FR-S with 197 miles on the clock on August 11th. I found it at the Scranton Toyota Scion store. I love the car but I'm still waiting for my registration to come through so i can transfer my plates. My 30 day PA tag runs out in five days. Then, ready or not, i'm putting my NY plates on the car.

Welcome and congrats to owning an FRS. I only know of one other hot lava around here so you will be pretty original. What are your plans for the car?

Thanks for the welcome Takumi. My plans are pretty modest as i am definitely a road warrior. I do a weekly 400 mile round trip commute, mostly on interstates. I have a tow hook mount front license plate bracket, an Escort IQ gps/radar detector combo, a dash camera and, don't laugh, a CB radio with a 48" trunk mounted antenna. The CB is still valuable as truckers faithfully broadcast the location of any state police cruisers they spot.
The first big mod (adaptation) will be a set of snow tires mounted on steelies. Whatever else i do, I will keep it C Street compliant as i might enjoy dropping in on the occasional autocross to play. I plan to wear out the OE tires as they are really not horrible. Oh, yeah, i almost forgot. On the rear bumper I have "BAD GRANDPA" spelled out in 3" custom printed vinyl lettering. That gets a lot of laughs.

You may be kidding but if not, the stock tires are complete garbage in the best of road conditions. The only thing they are good for is gas mileage and drifting.

I blew up my winter beater Subie last year and had to drive the FRS through the end of March and there were multiple times where the car just wouldn't move and I had to leave it there until the weather cooperated. So buy THE BEST winter tires money can buy bc this car is a handful in the snow. This is coming from a guy that has driven a 1988 RX7 and a 1992 240sx convertible through the winter with little problems.

Thanks for the advice Takumi. I'll be sure to buy the best snow tires available. The guys in Brookville, PA are interested to see how i make out this Winter. On the other hand, if there is a six inch accumulation of snow on the interstate, i don't have to go anywhere. Cheers!

With a decent set of snow tires, it's actually pretty good in the snow (for a sports car without much ground clearance). Picked up mine at the end of January this year and had my old snows swapped over from the trade-in. Rest of the winter was ~4,000 miles in lake-effect country.

Only real trouble is once it gets over 6-8" accumulation, beyond that, the skid plate starts to make the front end float. It's good throttle modulation practice. Builds character.

I'll be there for both of them.

Oh yeah, it's a day/night double-header. We will break for dinner to make sure the night runs are taken in the dark. Auxiliary lighting is completely allowed.

Here's what last year's looked like. Mind you, the camera picks up light poorly, it was a new moon, and it was still drizzling, so the track was wet and reflecting nothing.

I was there for the morning run. I was the white FRS with the bronze xxr wheels. Not really a fan of cherry valley but it was a lot of fun.

They are horrible, but I don't understand this "low rolling resistance/gas mileage" thing. I'm getting the same 33.5 mpg with Michelin Super Sports as with the crap OE rubber.

Those wheels looked great!

Cherry Valley needs some updates... and tire walls suck!
