I still feel the same way about Mustangs that I've felt since the Fox bodies. They are cool cars, but they just aren't for me.

As a life-long Mustang fan (I've owned four V8 Mustangs over the last 25 years) I really wanted the new S550 Mustang to be what Ford had originally talked about with the new Mustang, namely smaller and lighter than the outgoing S197. Too bad they went the opposite direction.

I've really come to appreciate small, lightweight RWD cars that handle well over the last 10-15 years, and that is why I picked up the BRZ and Miatas. I hoped the new Mustang would come in around 3300-3400 lbs and be a few inches shorter and no wider than my '08 GT, but as we all know, it got bigger and heavier. Still sounds like a pretty awesome car, just not quite what I'm looking for, especially at that price. I'll happily keep my '08 GT for at least a few more years which "only" had a curb weight of 3490 lbs, and is closer to 3350 lbs at autocross weight in stock/street class.

Complete disagreement with most peoples reaction to the reviews. I came very close to buying a 2014 but I changed my mind because the steering felt more loose than I would like. Honestly, my truck steering felt tighter. Most of the reviews say steering is much improved over the outgoing model. I look forward to test driving one of these. The only thing left is to get over the fear of a first model year ford...

Your review and the reviews provided by the OP are conflicting.

Both reviews provided by the OP rate the new gen mustangs at 435, while the top-gear review rates it at 418.

So you decide which you want to give credit.

I was just adding that review because it touched on some things a few reviews didnt. I thought the OPS reviews were fairly positive all considering. The new mustang has been excessively hyped. Nothing hyped this much lives up to the buzz.

lol we're in agreement then, I got out of a '13 Mustang and said 'welp feels exactly like the '01 F150 I learned to drive in!' and immediately made the decision to buy Toyobaru. Everybody else looks at me like I'm crazy but the Ford feels like a Ford to me.

In a way I'm glad. If these came out at 3000 lbs for around the same price as the frs I bought less than a month ago I would feel like an idiot for not at least giving this car a chance.

Additionally, I don't know where people are pulling these figures out from. A 200lbs weight loss is MASSIVE. My Mustang weighs 3600lbs. It doesn't even have a spare tire or jack. To lose that much weight and still have the features it currently has and comply with federal safety regulations, the car would have to shrink to the size of a BRZ. That may be what all of you clearly like, but that is not what the Mustang, as a brand, is about. It's not a small 2+2 sports car. It is a mid-size GT car that plays sports car when Ford decides to throw an extra $XXmillion into suspension development for a special edition (Boss 302, 00R/Termi). My Mustang was an alternate to G37 and 335i coupes, not a used C6, 370z or BRZ. It is the ultimate compromise. It has to be fast enough to overcome the budget interior at 45k yet cheap enough to not lose money at 25k.

umm. a 2015 GT weighs 3705 lbs in manual trim..........

Wher are you getting "Lost 200 lbs"?

Yeah MT weighed their 2015 GT at 3814 lbs.

They're saying it's a 196 lb. increase from last year's similarly-equipped GT they tested.

I think what he's getting at is that expecting the rumoured 200lbs weight loss to come to fruition was wishful thinking in the first place - you just can't lose 200lbs on a car the size of a Mustang without raising prices significantly through the use of exotic materials.

I don't think he's saying that the Mustang ACTUALLY lost 200lbs (quite the opposite)

I know. But I thought LSX meant the '15s lost 200lbs.
