Another video showing a different day, with a different layout. You can't see the backside of the course cause the mowers didn't come. But it is a fun loop.

PCA Autocross this Saturday. $30 bucks for 8 runs. Registration is 10:00am -10:45am and start time should be around 11:15am. Depending on the number of drivers we should be ending things around 2pm if I had to guess.
Its at the Sheriffs track, I posted some videos on page 25 of the thread that show a portion of the track. If you have any questions let me know. Also check out the Porsche club website for more info. www.pca-warbonnet.com Its a good, easy and laid back group to start Axing with. The wife drives a Cayman, but I run my BRZ out there. Hope to see you there.

Hopefully my Black 2015 BRZ Limited will be here this weekend. Trading in my mostly stock '06 Miata (FM Muffler and OFT tune). I've had many other fun cars over the years, so this will be nothing new.
So kind of an intro thread for me, for the OK folks. '88 325is, Ground Control, Work Emotion CR-Kais, '98 M3 engine swap, Wilwood brakes, etc etc ![]() '91 318is, Ground Control, SSR Type-C, etc ![]() 2006 350Z, only kept this for a few months, left it stock. ![]() 2010 MazdaSpeed 3, stuck in that epic snow storm from a few years back ![]() 2013 GT Mustang with the Track Pack (BOSS 302 parts, Brembo's, etc) ![]() 1990 Miata track rat, XIDAs, R888s, Wilwoods, stock engine ![]() And finally the 2006 Miata that's getting traded-in for the BRZ

Yeah I traded in my 07 Miata for the BRZ. At times I miss my Miata, but not because its better than the BRZ. They just have different personalities. I think I autocross the BRZ better than the Miata but it could be a wash. I have never tracked either one on stock rubber. There are ways in which the BRZ are better and there are ways in which the Miata is better. I will say the stock BRZ tires are shit on the AX/track. They undermine the car greatly. The OFT is very helpful in smoothing the power delivery out ( I highly recommend one) and reducing (not removing) the torque dip. Plus it allows for E85 if that is your sort of thing. I love E85. Do you plan on tracking or AXing the BRZ?
Congrats on getting a BRZ, welcome and I hope it serves you well.

I plan on doing some Auto-X with it, I've never Auto-X'd only ever done track days (on sport bikes and in the old Miata).
Although all this stuff about DI seals and track abuse I'm reading are making me quite nervous about using it for HPDE's. Plan is the normal exhaust/tune/suspension/wheels. I unmarried the OFT from the Miata so I'll throw a tune on it soon. |

Wish I could share some experience on your concerns, but the two BRZ's I have owned have never had a problem. Both AXed, but no HPDE or HST at hallett. My first BRZ I went the FI route with 407WHP on E85. It was a blast, but complete overkill. However the car ran great. I never ran into problems while running boost. My second only has 1800 miles and it has been at the sheriffs track about 4 times. So too early to tell anything.
My main reason for going to the BRZ over the Miata was I didn't fit very well in the car, and I would only have rollover protection with a roll cage which I was not willing to do. Not to mention I would never pass a true broomstick test in that car. I enjoy both. I will run the BRZ for about two more years and then make the change from momentum car, to a more powerful toy. When my wife doesn't track with me, I can drive the Cayman. One thing I truly do miss, is the cheaper cost of maintenance and upgraded parts for the Miata. BRZ can't touch that yet.

When you get to the nice stuff, I don't see that big a price difference.
The problem with fitting a roll bar and the top was a big part of the reason I ditched the Miata. I didn't want the compromise Hard Dog bar, the new FM bar that removes the trunk, or run a Blackbird and a permanent hard top. I thought about a more powerful toy, but they just eat so much more and more expensive consumables. |
