You are comparing an NA I6 to an NA V8 engine with different design and chassis. Orange to Apple ? Toyota has never let people down in the reliability department. This monster will, and can be tuned to V8 TT for more than 1500HP at the wheel.

If you let me pick between a V6TT vs NA-V8. I will pick the NA-V8 every time. Why ? the reliability, the smooth+Creamy performance vs Turbos lag. There is no replacement for displacement. The only thing = no MT...that sucks

In my mind's eye, I'm thinking FT1 will be slightly larger than the FRS. Approximately the size of the new mustang for reference. Lower roof line obviously. But 3200lbs sounds about right. I'm dreaming of a tuned 512hp 390tq 5.0L V8 shared with the RC-F. MSRP I'm thinkng $69,995 usd. Will be priced under the RC-F and obviously more than the RC350.

Really hoping for <3,200 lbs.

I'm starting to ponder whether FT-1 may have a modified version of the upcoming I-4 ts/c initially targeted for Camry that could help keep cost and weight down while differentiating it from the portly RC-F. We all want a N/A V-8 but future CAFE standards may have more of an impact than we know.

I think I read it wrong. I thought the base RC was priced at ~$62k..? The F being substantially more...?

The article was poorly written. It confused a lot of people.

RC350: $42,790 (excluding a $925 destination and handling charge)
RC-F: $62,400 (excluding a $925 destination and handling charge)

Pricing for the new Lexus RC 350 sports car has been announced.

The 2015 Lexus RC 350 will start from $43,715 including delivery while the more powerful RC F will have a starting price tag of $63,225. Arriving dealerships this fall, the RC 350 is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 engine providing 306 hp and 277 lb-ft of torque while the RC F will look to keep up with other luxury sports cars like the BMW M4 with a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V8 churning 467 hp and 389 lb-ft of torque.

The entry-level RC 350 will have its powerplant mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission for the rear-wheel drive models and a six-speed automatic with all-wheel drive. Inside, the RC 350 comes standard with NuLuxe imitation leather, aluminum and wood trim while genuine leather is available as an option. Available packages on the RC 350 include the F Sport Package ($5,085 for rear-wheel drive/$4,680 for all-wheel drive), Premium Package ($1,240/$800), Luxury Package ($4,885/$4,460) and All-Weather Package (available on all-wheel drive only for $220).

As for the RC F, buyers can opt for the Premium Package ($4,400), Performance Package ($5,500 and requires Premium Package), All-Weather Package ($280), Navigation ($1,760), Navigation with Mark Levinson stereo ($2,840), Moonroof ($1,100), Leather seats ($800) and Pre-collision system with dynamic radar cruise control ($500).

Well then, I hope it's priced at or around the RC-F's base price which puts it in competition with the Corvette. Any more and I don't think people will go for it. I believe $60k should be the sweet spot for this car. Hell, I hope it is priced even lower to sweep the market just like how the FRS did. Toyota definitely didn't come this far being stupid in their business moves. If the new supra comes in at $50k, I'm gonna sell all my cars to get one.

Just seen Motor trends latest mag showing up all the 2015-2016 noted release cars with ZERO discussion on the Ft-1 within those 2 years. I know they're not the end all to be all, however a piece inside me broke knowing the reality of this car is likely 2018-2020 by then I will not have gave a F and moved on... Sad really they can get their shit together and get this thing on market by 2016....

Hate myself for saying this but my old e30 M3 had rear passenger windows pop out open a bit. An extra 5 pounds, but would look sweeeeeeet!

It hasn't been done IIRC in a long while (since 70's) but you used to be able to roll down qtr glass on a few older classics. An example being a 69 GTO.

If we are all guessing then my prediction is turbo I4/hybrid with electric motors for performance boost (Porsche did it with the 918 so now the door is open), weight of 3500+, cost of $65K and release date of 2018.

I am not interested in a car like this at all but I will check back to see how close I got on my guesses.

My guess is: 85K+, competing against the GT-R. Low production numbers, just a flag ship car for the company. Toyota doesn't need to build sports cars for profit, its for bumping the image and adding spice.

40K ~ 60K is just wishful thinking imo.
