It's a pretty cool sound and I often find myself giving that tiny super slight amount of throttle on the decel in that 4k to 3k range to hear it. If I just let it decelerate normally without my foot on the pedal it doesn't happen.

So, I'm wondering why it would happen with the slight throttle input like that. Any ideas? Could this be harmful or damaging anything? I'm also curious to see if it will still happen after I flash my car with the OFT.

It kinda sounds like this Jaguar but less of an aggressive POP sound, more like deep "poof" sounds.

That's normal. You should get a catless header and no resonator and amplify that burble more

Although that burble/popping sound always happened to me on full decel without any gas input.

i don't know the reason for it, but I get the same kind of popping sounds on decel with my MR2 Spyder (has a fairly loud catback exhaust). I didn't really give it much thought before but now that I think about it, it's also typical when I am feathering the throttle a little.

BS Mode: I assume it has something to do with the design of the exhaust and a change in pressure of the exiting exhaust gasses, based on the RPM, load, throttle and air/fuel ratio.

Could just be road debris/tar.

I doubt it's any of your components melting or belts shredding.

Can't help but ask, what dealership or new owner is expecting the new yuzu yellow FR-S 1.0 today/this week? Saw one this morning 5am on 680 Southbound on a transport along with other new Toyotas. It was before the 580/680 junction otherwise if I knew it exited 580, I'd call Dublin. I flew by it in the fast lane but from what I saw, dayum nice!!

It's weird since it's the second time these spots have appeared.

I have two sitting at port. One a manual and the other an automatic. Then I have another stick awaiting production. We get to have three at my dealership. Mwhahaha
